7900 on YT Decoy. Original motor. Just turned 3 years old. 3 chains and 3 cassettes/chain rings. Wax is your friend! As is not cleaning the bike after every ride.
It makes a lot of sales sense to let new bike purchasers spend some more, YT aren’t the most expensive bikes on the market - plus we early adopters of the Decoy have kind of got over the bigger battery thing. I’m adept at big 40+ mile days out with 3,500ft of climbing now. I just want to do it...
🤣 So that’ll be £900 plus VAT + Import tax/customs fee + Postage (shall we call it £1500??)
And after all that I’ll still have a 540Wh battery that I won’t use and can’t sell anymore as there’ll be a few of those available from Jan ‘23!!
This is making my decision to ‘upgrade’ a lot easier...

The hub bearings were easy to do once you know the drive side bearing comes out last as it sits against a stop. There’s a link to the process in the thread above.
sorted it! Bought a new e*spec microspline freehub kit. It was about £90. This ended up being not much more than a set of all the bearings needed to swap them out! I’m yet to tackle the old free hub bearings - I’ve gone with the argument the bike industry wants ‘built in redundancy’ 🤨

Tap it from the blind side, whilst turning the Allen key, it’ll engage and come out. Don’t be too gentle ☺️
You need to apply sufficient pressure to get the threads to engage and start moving the whole rear triangle on the axle towards the side where you are turning. It’s just sticking in there...
It kind of does, apart from the bearing press tool isn’t available (for pushing the spacer) and that black spacer is flush with both bearings, unlike in the pic.
yeah that’s what I was hoping for too! Both bearings are clearly visible as is the axle that runs between them. There’s nothing else to see, it’s all flush in there. A gentle tap on the shaft gave nothing away in either direction. It turns with the bearings and is only properly stuck to the...
Yeah there’s one very large one that needs TLC to make sure it’s in place. The rest are obvious and clearly don’t work THAT well. My bearings have done nearly 4000 miles though so it’s not really a warranty job. I’ve got an email question logged with The Hive/e-Thirteen. I just need to know the...
Rear bearings are worn and rumbling with a little play, so I will be swapping them out. But…..knocking them out isn’t straight forward! Anyone ever done it? What did you use to push the axle through? Which way did you go?
It’s the V40 as in the pics and fitted to a 2020 Pro Race. 26L denotes...
Perfect - just needed to see that. (y)
I have some regular 36‘s on a Canyon and the post mount is the other way around.
just one of those quirky things.
It clearly makes the caliper contact the disk when fitted with the words and lettering facing out.
cheers!
Simple enough issue, my post mount only works when fitted one way. But I could do with seeing someone else’s to be certain.
Anyone running 29ers with the Code brakes can post a pic of the brake callipers fitted to the fork?
zoom in on the post mount!
cheers
Lol....that’s the way to do it ?
YT have always been quite good at letting viral marketing do all the hard work!
if it’s got a bigger battery......then there’s going to be some second hand Decoys popping up for sale ?
no way has that box got wheels in it!!!
so they can ship a frame....with EP8....in a new colour.....without wheels, no forks or handlebar attached, therefore no chain set and no brakes, and where is the display? So many questions and yet.......
I would be all over that option!
the perfect...
FB my dropper is exactly the same. Although with 3000 miles on it now I’m waiting another month or so and it can go for a paid-for service. Just need to get clear of this grinding paste that we are riding in ?
Good work FB!
for the record mine came with one fitted to one side and not on the other. Although there is clearly room for it.....
I rebuilt (after struggling so much to dismantle) put new bearings in and packed with grease and copper slip on the external areas to provide a more resilient...
