According to Maxxis website, in 27.5x2.5 the DD is 190g heavier than the EXO casing. Rat bite insert is approx 100g, so 90ish gram saving. I think a lot of the difference you felt is due the casing rather than the weight. DD tyres can feel a bit dead, almost like too much rebound damping on your...
Avoid Evans like the plague, if only for moral reasons. Wouldn’t want anything to do with a Mike Ashley business.
All three are available from Alpine bikes I think. Not independent as such but owned by Tiso’s.
Edinburgh bike is a coop, so owned by it’s staff.
I bought my e150 from Edinburgh...
Sram Maxle 180mm length x 12mm diameter, 20mm thread, 1.75 pitch.
Funny, I want to do the opposite and go to a bolt one, as they collect less vegetation when you ride.
Jason Leitch made a point during the last Scottish lockdown, you are allowed out to exercise, not for recreation or to do your hobby. Just because the riding from your door is boring doesn’t mean it’s not exercise. So if you can ride from your door you should.
Yes it’s frustrating but the...
AXS rear mech and 170mm reverb to sort out dodgy cable routing, DMR death grips and Maxxis Shorty on my spare wheel for winter. 160mm C1 Lyrik air shaft.
Saddle looked awful shape but never actually notice it while riding. My go to WTB Volt is out of stock everywhere so it will be staying for a...
Stem saved more weight than I thought, plus a no brainier if you had it already.
Damn you though, those carbon cranks are gorgeous. Must resist.
Totally agree on the AXS kit, amazing stuff. Well worth any weight penalty.
I’m down in Angus, maybe meet sometime for a loop of Heartbreak Ridge...
I find it slightly overeads compared to my Garmin gps (on two different devices) but not by a lot. At round 15mph it’s about 1mph out but not checked at higher speeds. Don’t think you’ll have been far off.
Did a quick calculation.
Your weight saving 4.47% , 1kg of 24kg is 4.17% so very similar.
Also, hate to think how much that little lot cost you. Can’t think you got very much value out of some of the upgrades. CF bars yes and also the cassette but how much weight did the stem or brake levers...
Can’t see why you’d put a smaller wheel on the new e150. Surely if you wanted the feel of 27.5 you’d have bought an e160 and vice versa? Can see the point in last years but going to 160 and 29er is a pretty big step.
Last week I changed the air spring in my 2020 150mm lyrik to the 2021 160mm...
Great on the front at this time of year but wouldn’t put one on the back. DHR2 makes a good match on the rear. Not a fan of the High Roller 2, not particularly bad but worse than a DHR2 in most conditions and not better in any.
Thanks, already seen those but would mean pulling motor lead and rear brake hose out to fit or removing brake hose at lever. Too much hassle. Moto foam squeezes in quite nicely, doesn’t absorb water and is easy to remove if I need too.
My cable de-route all went very smoothly (unlike the original cabling).
Removed the inner with the shifter, pulled outer through chainstay to bottom bracket area, then pulled entire length out from the front. No need to remove any covers or the battery. Dropper cabling all came out easily from...
Routing been annoying me and miss the AXS that I’ve got in my hardtail, so order mech and reverb from Europe before import charges come back in January.
Will I be able just to pull the outers through the frame without taking the motor cover off? Looks like quite a convoluted route through there.
Nice work on the stand. Another good idea I saw is a shaped piece of wood to go into the chain ring, so when you pedal backwards the crank catches it and spins the chain backwards for oiling.
I had a spare Mudhugger front guard which fits on the seat stays and keeps both sets of pivots clean on...
Thought you must be mistaken but went and checked my bike and yes the damn cheap asses have only fitted mmx to one side. Had the bike 3 months and never even noticed. Hope it doesn’t screw me over tomorrow, as my 170mm AXS reverb arrived this week and I’ve a brief child free window tomorrow...
Sounds right to be fair. I’m the same weight and ride a Whyte e150 with 625wh Bosch gen 4. Range very much depends on what level of assistance.
Trail centre stuff where you’re all up or all down eats battery. Last visit to Glentress I got 24 miles out of the battery before the battery died. Had...
No MTB glove keeps the rain out. I prefer a wind proof glove. Usually have a degree of waterproof-ness and even if they get wet, the wind proof stops them getting too chilly. Some people use neoprene gloves which get wet but at least stay warm.
Legs never stay dry. Waterproof shorts over...
