From what I can see, Shimano aren't covering themselves with glory here. How it's possible to launch a product which doesnt meet specification, especialy as the lauch has been delayed, is beyond me. I know it is easy to end up with a product which doesnt function in the real world as expected...
Ive just hit 10cycles on an E8035, and dropped down to 90%. I would put money on this being a software issue rather than actual cell degradation given both the rapid nature which it has happened and that lots of others seem to have seen the same pattern.
I also dont seem to have seen any...
Its mentioned in the thread running in the general discussion area. Seems Rob has asked Shimano just ghis question.
A great shame if so as I was planning to do just this in a year or so.
Do you ever fully discharge tge battery? Perhaps the battery management has got out of calibration and it was almost empty, and putting it into boost took the last remaining power? Seems a bit poor if so, but thats my first thought.
Thats a massive shame if true, although I wonder if thats just at the begining when they cant meet demand?
What would happen in a couple of years when motors fail outside of warrenty if you cant buy a replacement?
Looking towards the winter, I'm thinking of adding a front light powered from the motor. I've seen somewhere that it's a 6V output on the E7000? (But 12V on the E8000?)
Are the connections just behind the motor cover on the left side?
Anyone have any reccomendations of which light to go for?
I was planning to just keep mine, possibly slowly upgrade over time.
However, I've found my riding to have changed since getting it and would now like a full suspension rather than a hardtail. So.... sell after a year or so, or just have two?
That said, I do want to put the EP8 motor in if I...
Always difficult to tell from those studies though as they dont take into account the different numbers of motors out there.
Would be interesting to do a poll of forum members of what mileage they have, and if they have had a failure at what mileage it occourd. Coukd also look at the types of...
I've just had a better look at the charger, and I was wrong that there are no control lines. There are three going into the bike charging port, but from memory only 2 going into the battery which I dont quite understand.
Anyway, based on the above, I would be very wary of trying to charge on...
My thoughts (please note that I dont 'know' any of this for definite, I'm basing it on my expectations of the design and knowledge of other systems).
Having had a quick look at the charger, the output current seems low relative to the battery capacity, so wouldn't expect any damage to the cells...
A whole 251mi in my E7000. Although I have only had it for a few weeks...
Good to see that there are some high mileage motors out there. I think it's often easy to just read the bad stories on the internet and assume all motors will break after just a few miles!
Cant do a translation on my phone unfortunatly, but guessing they measured the power in tothe charger? Thats not a bad idea to give a rough comparison of battery health over time actualy. It wont give an accurate idea of actual capacity, but for degradation it would work. especialy when people...
Thats rather dissapointing for you. I'm hoping that thats due to the current pandemic making parts hard to get hold of rather than being the norm.
I dont beleive anyone offers an aftermarket repair service yet either. I'm hoping the new EP8 motor has been designed with the ability to repair...
An interesting topic. I'm an engineer, so like geeky stuff like this. I plan to keep a record as I go for interest.
Not many cycles on mine yet, but for what its worth;
1) # of charging cycles 5
2) remaining capacity 100%
3) E6002 charger
4) Battery BT-E8035 504wh
It would be interesting to...
I asked my local Shimano service center this, and they told me any replaced component would havea new 2yr warrenty from date of fitment. Would be good to hear from anyone who has been through it if course.
I'm sure there are a few on here who have the dealer software? Wondering if they knew?
Would be nice to change the wheel circomference as its over reading at the moment, but dont want to provide an excuse for refusing a replacement if the motor was to go wrong. Please note, I understand the...
