    LETS SEE YOUR RIDE FOOTAGE

So a few months ago I decided attempting a 60-mile race with a frakton of climbing would be a GREAT IDEA. The Tour of the Gila is a UCI-sanctioned series of road races here in New Mexico, USA. I signed up for The Gila Monster and chose the Medio Fondo: 60 miles with 6575' of climbing. That's 97...

If you couldn’t ride bikes anymore…

The first step? I’d get (or at least rent) a recumbent etrike and give it a whirl. If that didn’t work, I’d try my indoor trainer paired with one of those goofy MMOs. If all else has failed, only then would I give up on cycling and find some other hobby.

Negative. I have a rubber tie-down that goes across the tops of the batteries to strap them into place. That takes care of vertical movement. And the spaced cutouts in the board take care of horizontal movement and ensures airflow for cooling.

Oh, and since it’s been so long since I last posted, here’s a couple bonus pics of my bikepacking buddy, PIA.

Well, I FINALLY finished it. It’s only taken me almost 2 years to build the damn thing, but it’s done. This is my solar-charging trailer, Agnes (if you get the Star Trek reference, you’re a nerd, too). I have a 500-mile gravel and singletrack trip planned in November with a fellow bikepacker...

Ooof. Damn, at least it cools down to 28°C or so at night here. It’s been absolutely miserable, tbh. And our monsoon rains have basically been a no-show. I keep wondering when in the hell I moved to Phoenix, AZ and didn’t notice?

Sunrise and moonset on this morning’s ride. It’s been hotter than Satan’s taint here for the past couple of months. 40°C and up. We’re breaking long-standing records for consecutive days at 100°F or more. You know it’s brutally hot when: A. I’m actually bitching about the heat, and B. I’ll...

New Pinion integrated gearbox and motor (MGU)

It’s a sealed system so, not take anything to break unless you drop it off your auto while hauling ass down the highway. The Pinion gearbox is already well known for its outstanding reliability—thousands and thousands and thousands of miles with nary an issue. Besides, it’s literally doing...

RACE DAY! Handy for it to also be World Bicycle Day. Rio Bravo Gravel Grind, La Union, NM, USA First half of the race I was contemplating doing a second lap (20 miles, 32 km) since I had the option. Halfway through I decided nah. Once out of the deep sand and back on hardpacked gravel, I...

Will never again buy Five 10 or any other Adidas products

Yep. Homophobic. Transphobic. Rainbowphobic. PRIDEphobic. Dragphobic. Just a big ol’ post of mediocre white guy fuckery.

    Magpeds

Right. But they’re ALL SPD style. Think more along the lines of a pair of 5.10s with a metal plate under your heel and mid foot.
