Think of the next few months as an opportunity to do some upper body strength work. An SL will feel magical after wiping the trails with a 25 kg sponge
There are a lot of us out there.
The SL isn't perfect, but it's one of the best options out there if you need help getting up hills but still want to ride a bike.
I kept the old norco optic for my kids , my giant full e (2018 precursor to etrance), and am loving the levo sl.
I loved the...
It might be worth checking if giant NZ warranty is still handled via giant Australia. Over here, we get great warranty support but I've read way too many stories from kiwis who were less impressed. It's hard to know if the time difference means shops use emails instead of phone calls.
Or...
Since you are financing the bike, be aware the giant warranty is not transferable if / when you decide to sell it. So if , eg, interest rates go up or your financial situation changes it's going to be harder to sell a 1 week old giant with no warranty.
Don't read into the extra " power" -...
If you like high pressures, DO NOT run tannus. It's like having a marshmallow between the tyre and the ground, - almost like running 2/3 extra clicks of compression dampening
I run tannus on my overweight emtb as well as my youngest kids bike - IMHO it's the best puncture prevention . But I...
For what it's worth, I'd vote for keeping him on a really good unpowered mtb and allowing the motorbikes, hopefully he will get bored.
Exploring with mates, vs riding around the same patch of dirt...
edit - I love that picture overlooking the avon river. We'd been camping with 3 other...
I had an interesting conversation with my 13 yo a few weeks back. On the way back from a big day of mtb riding he asked why I was so resistant to him getting a motorbike - I was 13 ....
All the logical answers came out
" it's illegal for you to ride a motorbike in the bush but we can go mtb...
The least you could do is show her the customisation paint options of the carbon rise....
Back to helpful advice - forget about a 3 year plan, both her and the bikes will evolve a lot in the next 3 years. If she likes to spin cranks rather than grunt up hills, I'd be looking for a second hand...
Depending on how long the gunk has been in there, it might be worth replacing the tyre.
It may look clean after a thorough wash , but there will be little balls of black gunk all over the place next time you look. I'm not sure if the black gunk was degraded bits of tyre or residual sealant...
As a toddler I did the boiling kettle trick , and as a teenager some moron decided a firecracker was a good way to melt my undies - so I hate to think how much you overcame with your burns. Burns ward staff are heros.
If all else fails, after putting the tape on insert a tube at silly pressure for a night so you can press the tape against the rim. Then leave the bloody thing in because Alex is a sadistic bastard
What's your concern? I've had no issues with duct tape ( more specifically, Black Gorilla Tape | Gorilla Glue )
4 bikes at a time over the past 5 years, the only bikes that have had tape failures were the ones using " correct" tubeless tape ! ( 3 so far )
On a more positive note, I think you hold the best trophy to post ratio on this forum.
( I was looking for when you joined to see if you had read some of ZF's original work - it's a great insight into where the banter comes from)
I'm confused,? ( passive aggressive attempt to trigger a frustrated response)
After a thorough review of all 10,000 + posts from both zf and the person I thought this thread was actually about, I couldn't find any evidence of venom.
Time to reach out to the mods - Rob, how about a ride review...
Thanks for the info on the motor spindle. I might have a chat with my lbs to clarify if my new motor has any right to warranty in the future - given it's now been exposed to a worn crank that wasn't detected at last weeks repair job.
Since we seem to be on a near identical time frame - I suggest you keep an eye on the right crank.
I got my sl motor back a week ago, same issue. A week later and the R crank is coming loose every 30-60 km - tightening it up to the recommended torque does not completely get rid of play. My...
If you're wanting to keep the stock wheels, a garbaruk cassette is compatible with that hg driver and saves 320 gms over the nx . Sorry, mine is on the shelf waiting for the nx to wear out .
