+1 to those numbers being too low. I have over 1500 miles on mine and the cassette isn't anywhere near replacement. It could also be imprecise shifting/alignment, which will do more to grind everything down.
Just noticed all the recent coil discussions on the KSL. I have the Ohlins TTX 22m and am loving it. I have a 525lbs spring and I weigh 185lbs w/o gear, and the TTX rebound fully open 7 clicks so it avoids packing while not being too springy. The shock has a slow rebound even fully opened, but...
I swapped my cranks down from 170mm to 165mm since the bike does sit low. I think I prefer the original length but wanted to avoid the potential strikes in the low BB position. BTW if someone wants to buy the Carbon 170mm lightly used, DM me they're just collecting dust and won't be installed again.
I think I'll settle for experimenting with 20F / 22R. I weigh 185lbs and this is the pressure I use on my Enduro with Exo+/no cushcore tires, usually without issues. So far I've used those settings in 2 rides and seems to work well. Tires also feel more compliant and "normal" to me as the...
It's definitely 12.7Nm for the forward shock eye bolt, NOT 22.5, that's a typo and they've fixed it in later revisions of the manual (crazy that they still have the wrong version downloadable online)
@Zakb sorry for your troubles I agree you weren't treated well in any case, make sure to (negatively) review all parties involved when all is said and done, that LBS sucks. To the point that others mentioned, helicoil done right will solve this issue. Not sure how much you'll like the looks...
Oh wow @drdory good luck with the warranty, please keep us posted so we can keep Specialized honest! I love their bikes and currently own KSL and Enduro but have to agree that failures aren't uncommon. I agree it's hard to tell w/o looking closely but I believe it could just snap like that...
IDK about mudguards my KSL came with both front and rear guards.
But as for wrap kits I wrap all my bikes with invisiframe, the material is very good at preventing cosmetic blemishes but if your tire catches a fist-sized rock while in turbo mode and shoots it to your downtube it may leave a mark...
I own a KSL S-Works and installed cushcores to protect the carbon rims. They're great but they do add stiffness at same PSI. Wondering how low people are running PSI specifically for SL bikes, given that weight isn't that far off the charts. Do you think 18/20 psi is "safe"? I really don't want...
@Dax do you have some specifics? I own a KSL and use that manual for torque specs. I've stripped one of my shock eyelets, don't know if that's the reason. And if it has incorrect torques - where do you find the correct ones? Thx
I second the suggestion to try both if you can (really trying means on the trails). Just for your reference I'm 6'1 and I rode both S4 and S5, I felt comfortable on both but ended up on S4 since I prefer smaller for easier maneuverability - the KSL feels very stable as it is so I didn't need the...
Thanks @ghost48 and @Moshe . Yes I saw that, I'm thinking more real-world experience. I'm sure slackening would help on steeps but the bike is already heavy, pretty slack and long, I still want to maintain some trail feeling, wondering if Slack up front is overkill. (also: crazy to think it...
Just got my KSL! Is there a place where riders share their takes on the 6 different geometry combos? I ride steeper terrain but not super rocky, similar to what I ride on my Enduro. Any tips that save me some experimentation are appreciated!
Hi,
I ride the 2022 Kenevo SL S-works and have a couple of question to the folks that have experience with these setups:
1. Should I add cushcore (or equivalent) to protect the carbon rims? And
2. What tire pressures do you run compared to your other bikes? I care less about if it's 20 or 30...
So looks like Fox is finally admitting the problem.
@Jcolborn48 I called them up and they said they'll replace my broken shock with a new X2 - sent them, waiting to see if that happens.
Thanks!
Update: neither Fox nor Spec' are willing to do anything. Specialized offered a discount on replacement rear triangle - thanks for nothing! Fox rebuilt the coil and sent it back - so I can ride it until the next failure! Unbelievable.
Looking for advice how I can take it to them and force their...
Thanks @Jcolborn48 . I wonder what they're going to do with this:
Disclaimer: I'm an average rider not nearly fast enough to damage bikes, the bike and shock bought and installed at LBS, and this happened on a normal trail in a relatively straightforward section. The bike and shock are barely 3...
Hi, coming into this thread. I bought a Lupine cable but a Chinese light (the one this person recommends: ). Question: does anyone know what light switch - preferably handlebar mounted - I can buy, the can connect the lupine cable and the light? Otherwise light will turn on every time I turn on...
Hi,
I'm having some challenge on steep uphills with my stock 2021 Turbo Levo Expert. These aren't too steep to comfortably push a regular bike up but too steep to ride a regular bike up. I'm usually spinning my rear wheel and then need to put foot down, from there it's hard to get going again...
