In my quest to get a vaguely decent life out of chains, I've decided to have a go at hot waxing (the chain, not my nether regions). Knowing better than the manufacturer, I've been reusing the quick links. The bike also had some motor issues so the chain has been off a few times for that as...
Does anyone know where to get the chain / cassettes in the UK? My quick look only shows German stores.
And am I correct in thinking you can use a LG chain with a normal cassette to try and get better life?
Ultimately, I expect its cheaper to put a new motor and battery in an existing bike than buy a new one. They also come with a new warranty of course if you're buying them.
That doesn't take into account the innovation though, but for the moment I like my bike and don't see that changing in the...
Update: I've downgraded the firmware using windows to 4.4.0. 4.5.0 only seems to install an uninstaller .exe?
I can now use the app to change the settings but still get the same error with the windows app.
Hi Vadll, I'm trying to change the settings on an E7000, f/w 4.7.4, using ST unlocker on windows. It can read the bike values fine, but when I go to 'update settings' is comes up with a popup box saying 'connection issues'.
I've tried it with 2 computers now, both do the same. ETube can change...
I wonder how much of the issue is the electrical component of ebikes is completely different technology and skillets to traditional bikes? Traditional bikes are completely mechanical, and so it follows that reviewers and mechanics are likely to have that as their knowledge base.
As for battery...
It seems like some batteries can't be repacked. I think someone on here tried it with a shimamo battery and it killed the BMS (internal battery computer).
So, suck it up and buy a new one I guess. Or a new bike.
Lots of people on here seem to replace their new bike regularly, which is fine...
Decided against a bike park today as assumed they would be rammed, so another scenic explore. Got 50 miles in!
Took 2 spare batteries just in case, but needn't have bothered as only used 50% of the first. Sods law would have been I'd have run out if I hadn't have taken both though...
What a...
Only managed to get out on some local bridleways this afternoon, but just wanted to get out. Ended up spending a lovely couple of hours pottering around the local countryside.
Best of all, got a long weekend ahead with no major plans, so plenty more riding to be had!
I can't comment on the other manufacturers as I haven't owned them, and a lot of the discussions about reliability between brands is anecdotal.
I'm personally not happy with the shimano system I've got. The battery is degrading fast and shimano don't want to know. My first bike (which I've...
Now that is impressive!
As well as burning through money on ebikes, I also do trackdays. Bedding on brakes makes a major difference, both in performance terms and longevity and so I always make sure to do the same with the bike.
Serious answer is that if I rode an analogue bike as much as the ebike, I would be fitter. I can put in far less effort on the emtb.
BUT I ride far more often on the ebike, so I recon my fitness is higher. Ultimately, I ride because I enjoy it, and happen to get some fitness at the same time...
Glad you got it fixed. I came of my first bike at speed within the first couple of weeks and spent an age waiting for a new hanger. Now always keep a spare in stock and have a knockoff realignment tool.
Unfortunately the derailleur is easy to knock on things at the side of the trail, so easily...
I was suggesting using it more as a threat to get a resolution than actually going through with it. Best outcome for both sides would be you walking away with your bike repaired.
Just seems like they may need their minds to be focused a little to get them to do their job...
