Evan’s Cycle is having their Five Ten sale right now, most shoes are 70% off then some qualify for an extra 20% off. I just picked up the Trailcross mid pro for £42.
Yep…just use whatever drivetrain degreaser you’d normally use on the cassette. I like to take mine off and scrub as I find I can get it cleaner that way but most people aren’t as OCD about it as I am.
I would recommend starting with a fresh chain, then strip the factory grease off with something like Silca’s ultimate chain stripper. You can still use a used chain you just need to make sure it’s really clean, there’s a few methods but the best I’ve found is the 2 jar and shake method if you...
I’m not a huge fan of SRAM brakes either, almost every set I’ve owned have had some kind of issues. I like trying new things though so I’m open to see if these can change my mind. No idea how long it will be before I get them though, he hasn’t got them in the shop yet and they still have to ship...
He was talking about the Maven, it’s SRAMs new big boy brake. I have a set pre-ordered through my mate’s shop to give them a try, they should be announced today. It’s basically SRAMs version of the Saint brake; big, beefy and powerful.
My mate just got a refund on his, it went through 2 motors and 2 ring controllers in a month. The second motor was the newest revision 5 and it failed the same way the original revision 2 did. The owner of the shop has already replaced a motor and a ring controller on his personal bike too. I’d...
I was doing the hot waxing thing but it got to be too much of a pain in the ass. I found the easiest thing to do was to keep 4 chains in rotation, when one would start to get too noisy I’d swap it out with a fresh one and throw the dirty one back in the wax.
I’ve swapped my main bikes over to...
Muc-Off is some of the worst lube you can use! All of their lubes ranked at the bottom of Zero Friction Cycling’s testing, they have a huge marketing budget so their stuff is everywhere.
A good mate owns a shop that sells bikes with Shimano, Bosch and Fazua motors. He’s always told me to buy something with a Bosch motor over the rest. He says to avoid Fazua like the plague, he stopped selling the shuttle SL for a bit because they were having so many issues. The rumour is Fazua...
I’m going to go with the Epix Pro but in the 47mm size, I’ve got 17.8cm wrists so the 47 is pushing it size wise IMO. I’m still shopping around looking for the best price right now.
I was interested in giving those a try at one point but cascade closed their UK store. You can’t order from the EU store since the UK left the EU union so it has to come from the US store, it ends up costing about $200 more after shipping/custom duties/VAT is added.
I was able to check out a few watches today, looked at the Fenix 7 and the Epix Pro. I’m leaning towards the Epix Pro as I like the screen better, it’s way more defined than the screen on the Fenix. It doesn’t have solar charging but the sales person said it would last up to 7 days without...
I got a smoking deal on my T4V4s as they were the last set in the shop, if I would have went with the braided hose it would have been closer to retail price as he would have had to order them. I’ve dealt with braided hoses though and trimming them sucks so I probably wouldn’t have chose them...
It looks like the Fenix 6 has that was recommended has been replaced by the 7. I was looking at the Epix 2 but it seems the only difference between the Epix Pro and Fenix Pro is the screen with the Epix having the better screen. I think better life is roughly the same since I’d need the 42mm...
