Have to admit, It is tainting my buying choice.
I do keep being drawn to Levo but even if I could get a hold of a 2020 one right now I think I would decline the option to purchase (unless they confirmed the motor was the newer build with the kevlar belt).
Even then there are still a few...
I’m kind of in the same situation but for me I’m still working out which bike to go for, I’m fairly sure it’s going to be a Levo but I’m also waiting for the old stock motors to be filtered out of the retail chain, that’s the main reason I’d wait for 2021 bikes.
I’m surprised at this, you could understand though if a bike was sitting in stock and had one of the potentially faulty motors, but to get from Specialized themselves, now that they know there’s an issue with a suspect unit is not really on.
I know I’ve really no place commenting on this...
I’m sure the shop wouldn’t fit an earlier motor, but it’s probably worth verifying the build date of any new motor they intend to swap it with,.... I’m maybe being a bit paranoid of course as any motor they’ve ordered in would be new stock and using any older motors around in stock wouldn’t...
Can you possibly post the build date of your motor? Allegedly anything from jan 20 has the fix, it’d be interesting to confirm if yours is a newer motor. There’s instructions on the forum somewhere that can help you locate it.
I was surprised to see it held some retro bike value. There’s a couple for sale on eBay. It still rides like a flying carpet... that said, I haven’t ridden a modern eBike yet, pretty sure I will soon once I work out what I’m after.
Hey all, just joined and I’m seeking some information on which eBike to buy. I’ll be trawling through the various manufacturers forum pages and looking largely at reviews over the next month or so.
I’m drawn to the Levo but equally appalled by the motor issues, hopefully the older motors will...
