I find the Postman and the lever to be of excellent quality both functionnaly and in terms of reliability. What's wrong with them at any price point? Not being a RS in itself is a massive bonus lol.
Let's do it. I normally ride Steyning and the new trails around Chanctonbury Ring if you fancy it. I don't mind coming your way for Slindon and White Ways too. I am in Findon so we can start from mine for Steyning... Cheers. Nick
I only have the Code R on the Base 29 and I am still on the factory bleed after 9 months. Perhaps I am lucky but the lever feel hasn't changed. They feel excellent, particularly compared to the Shimano's perpetually changing bite point I had on my XTs before.
Looks like the Pro Race was discounted down to £5100 but now out of stock so that leaves you with the Elite or the Pro 29. Out of the 2, I would choose the Pro 29 for value on that motor. And the DT Swiss wheels is a massive plus compared to even carbon non-DT wheels.
I would go for XL (I am...
Hi Tom. Let me know if you fancy a ride around Steyning Trails / Chanctonbury Ring (I know all the trails there) - I am Findon based and we can start from mine. I also regularly do QECP, both sides. Cheers. Nick.
I use Eddy Currents too in 2.6 29 and they are tubeless fit and forget. I expect to top up every 12 months but that's it. The sidewalls lend themselves very well to tubeless.
Avoid that shop in future would be my advice. AG Tar remover will work but the daddy is Autosmart Tardis. This will shift the glue.
And then just invest £10 in a big roll of TESA 4289 which will do many wheels. Even cheaper than Gorilla but without the downsides.
No need for expensive...
225mm and 30mm on a 170mm post (XL frame). Quite lucky that with the post slammed down as far as it will go, it's the perfect pedalling position, I am 6ft/183cm.
In turns it so means that the post is a low as possible when down.
The overall weight is very similar, the delta is only about 10%. The propensity to run low pressure is a function of the sidewall stiffness, whether ebike or acoustic.
Glad it's fixed. Happened to me once on a Decoy 29 after a wash and a battery removal plus clean sorted it. I use electrical contact cleaner now too on those contacts and the main charging point. If that's all the trouble I am going to get than I can live with that.
I managed 5 climbs in ECO on a Decoy 29. The Beast of Burden is actually quite good fun. I had a bit of power left but just in case we recharged for 1 hour at (late) lunch time (£5). This allowed another 3.
Yes sure 11 is plenty but if you insist on Shimano their 12 speed stuff is vastly superior to their 11 speed system IME and irrespective of the number of gears. In fact it's as good as their 10 speed system in terms of shift quality. 11 Shimano was just an outlier for me in its mediocrity.
I have always had XT and moved to SLX12 from XT11. I am so impressed with it: fit and forget, low wear, superb shifting. I can't really see the point of XT now.
