I have a large size frame. I originally thought it wouldn't fit on mine then saw someone post that u needed to compres the shock 1st to mount it somewhere on this thread.. probably 2 to 3mm clearance between shock and frame. tight but never had any contact. rode it for 2 months but have moved on...
I don't hear about any motor issues with the sl model. but someone correct me if I'm wrong.
think your issue is the exception and not the norm. thankfully.
please report back on exactly what was the problem and how the fix went
hi, got an audible creak coming from my alum sl. I think it's coming from the motor and possibly the mounts. anybody have this issue. is it an easy task to drop motor to get grease on the frame contact points? thanks
hi, can anybody provide the color code for the teal aluminum sl comp? get lots of nicks. paint seems to chip pretty easy.
thank you!!
chris
ps, just put a 27.5 wheel in back and its amazing. if you're riding mostly dh trails id certainly recomend it. got a heavy casting wtb 2.4 judge on.
ya, I'm always surprised how little grease is put on pivots, headset etc by manufacturers. same true with suspension forms. often I find little to no lube in new forms.
seems weird to have to pull a new bike apart and regrease everything but u almost have to.
found my SL pretty well...
I just put a chromag cutlass 800mm carbon on and loving it. sweep is perfect.
I will say I found stock bars on the sl really nice too. I put them on another bike
if you like a more responsive, quick handling bike than I'd say don't add an offset bushing. it lengthens the wheel base and slacks out the head angle making it more dh oriented.
I have the cascade link on my alum sl and just added an offset bushing. I still have loads of room around yoke and frame. running the adjustable shock mount in the low position too.
what length shock are u running?
ya, its a very capable bike when properly equipped. thinking these motors might fair better than the Brose ones. my shop hasn't had any reported issues. and they can't keep SL's in stock
I just gave them the make of my bike and shock id be using and they did the rest. I didn't include the info originally when I ordered the bushing and they reached out to me to get the info. if it effects overall travel its minimal or none.
just want to give a shout out to Offsetbushings.com. its the only company making bushings that I could find in the SL size. uk to us took about 3 weeks. quality is excellent and it to my HA to 65deg. liking it!
I've ridden both offsets on my sl. 44 offset with a 170 lyrik and 55 with a fox 36. sticking with the fox 36 but honestly couldn't really feel a ride difference in relation to offset. the fox has a coil spring in it. now that makes a BIG difference!.
I ride shimano saint brake with sram 220...
