What do you like best about the coil on the heckler? I swapped an X2 onto my Heckler but after a few rides I went back to the stock super deluxe. Liked the pop from the super deluxe better.
Thanks for pointing this out. Love the new colors!
I’m not surprised. And I’m so glad to see prices dropping. The cheapest “new” Heckler is now the 11.5k which comes with the new XO RSV with CC frame, ZEB, carbon rims, and new colors too.
If you can find one, you can get the “old” Heckler in...
Over on the Orbea boards there’s a bunch of talk about problems people have had with the E-13 cranks failing on the EP8-RS. Those cranks come stock on the Orbea Rise.
Good luck, and please report back to let us know what you end up doing with the suspension and your ride impressions.
Happy...
All this talk, so I swung by the shop and picked up the shock mounting hardware, and did this….
Before, with Ripmo hardware installed
After, with SC hardware
On the bike…
It looks good, lol. It’s a little easier to measure travel for set up because you can see the stanchion, but it’s...
I recently switched from code R to RSC and the difference is very noticeable. The R’s were okay, but the RSCs have a much better feel with a solid bite and great modulation, plus the adjustability is really nice. I’m running 220 F/R with organic pads.
On my V2 I replaced the X2 with a Float X. I also replaced the Assegais with DHF/DHRII, pushing the bike more towards a long trail style bike. I like the float x paired with the fox 36 on the Ripmo. It suits my riding style well. I found the X2 to be a little too plush, a little too soft.
That’s what I was referring to. The shock is the same size but you need different mounting hardware. Changing the hardware is quick and easy if you have a bushing tool, like this:
And you also need the correct hardware, of course. SC says you need a 30x8 standard bushing in the front and 30x8...
Is the onyx vesper not rated for e-bike? Personally I have more faith in durability of the i9 products and then there’s the EP8 rattle, so why bother with silent hubs on this bike?
I’m going to pick up a pair of unions for my Heckler to replace the ARC/e13s that came stock. Still trying to decide whether to go with the 101 or Hydra. Hmm? It’s an extra $226 for Hydra.
Thanks for the feedback. I’m curious as well. I’ve got an X2 on my bench that is a take off from my Ripmo V2 so it has their “traction tune”. Same size as the heckler shock, and I’ve wondered whether it’s worth the trouble to swap them out.
Trek has released a new Domane + road bike that features the TQ motor. Seems they are all in with this motor. This bodes well for the future support of this platform.
The chip is marked "Hi" and “Lo” on each end. When the marking is at top that’s the position it’s in. Here's a crappy pic that I took using the macro on my phone. It is easy to flip when you put the bike in a stand with the rear wheel removed and take the air out of the shock.
I have the 2023 Zeb on my Heckler and the upgrade that is the most noticeable is how quite the fork is. No squishy sound at all. Now, when I take out my Ripmo with its factory 36 I notice the squishy sound right away. Lol. The factory 36 is a great fork too, feels amazing on the Ripmo
Rather than those consider a light, ventilated full face like the TLD Stages. I personally know two guys who knocked out front teeth on bikes, so … you decide.
