I think I broke my Giro Switchblade MIPS-helmet to a point that I might need a new helmet. At the same time I made a change to start using MX helmet during DH-riding. So..just a thought: Why wouldn't I buy a MX trial helmet for my next helmet for EMTB trail riding? Is it a threat … or opportunity?

Pros
- Protection is better
- Warmer during winter time

Cons
- Weight
- Not so good ventilation

This is a little theoretic question to raise some good opinions.

You 100% could. Personally I wouldn’t because:
- no mips
- not enough ventilation
- no chin guard

If you’re looking at something like that I’d buy a Fox Dropframe Pro. It’s the same concept in a lighter package with MIPS.

Rather than those consider a light, ventilated full face like the TLD Stages. I personally know two guys who knocked out front teeth on bikes, so … you decide.

+1

I recently slid down a trail at bpw on my face, my Stage definitely saved me a hospital visit and a dentist bill

Earlier this year I went over the bar on a steep descent and landed on the back of head. Good thing i was wearing a full face helmet. A full face helmet might has some disadvantage from having less ventilation and being heavier, but the added protection gives a piece of mind for the unexpected crashes.

I use a BELL Super DH.

I think you landed just a little too hard last time?

Really, you should be looking in the equine section - those horse riders do really big jumps, and all the puctures have girls with pretty teeth so they must have great protection?

I use a Bell Super 3. It is available either with or without a detachable chin guard. Mine is without as I already have a full-face helmet, I just like the improved protection.
I second that the Bell Super 3 is a great helmet and provides more coverage than a standard bike helmet. I have the detachable chin guard which attaches with ski type bindings so nice and secure. I like that it's a 2 in 1 helmet and I can carry the chin guard in my pack until needed
