    Santa Cruz Ebike

I have a gray, S-model on order. All things considered, (and I test rode everything available) this should do the trick for me.

Don’t like the Shimano E8000? What would you rather have? Brose ? Smooth but so many returned motors. Bosch CX ? I really didn’t take to it. My favorite motor is the Rocky Mountain Power Play, but the price point wasn’t where I wanted and the only dealer in Phoenix (5th largest city in the...

Yes. A dirty trick. The employees watched as I was drawn to the yellow Santa Cruz lettering, only to find, "Hey, what the heck?"

On the eve of the Santa Cruz eBike release, my local bike shop played a mean trick... SC via BH. Photo below in Steveo’s post.

Zimmerframe voices an objection to the Shimano motor. Some will want a bigger battery. I can live with the 504WH battery because our group rides tend to be under 20-miles and my butt goes numb after 14. As for the motor, the only motor I lust for is the Rocky Mountain, and even that has issues...

STUnlocker iOS App for Shimano motors is available

These guys are former team members (one a state single-speed champ). Before the eBike, I had to cheat to keep their dust in sight. Okay, so I’ll have to downgrade the motor firmware. Then STunlock it. Then I have the option of upgrading back to current versions (?) I’m assuming there is...

STUnlocker iOS App for Shimano motors is available

Yes. Just a mild upgrade of speed into the high 20s would be fine. I find that 20mph is useable most of the time, but on long, downslope connector trails/roads, I am in need of more speed when the non-eBikers in our group tend to take off.

STUnlocker iOS App for Shimano motors is available

The previous comments (and the ST Unlocker site) said that (IIRC) The E7000 display required a firmware downgrade to get the speed settings to work. The E8000 display did not.

STUnlocker iOS App for Shimano motors is available

I’ll have to check to see which display it comes with (E7000 vs E8000). Does the E7000 still require the firmware downgrade?

I’ll be getting a new 2020 eMTB with Shimano E8000 next week or so. How does the ST UnLocker look for current firmware versions?

New Bosch motor ,1 at 3 weeks.

I’ve ridden the Gen 4 on mostly on flat ground and can confirm the general behavior you saw. I have about 25-miles on the Gen3 with good climbs to test it. I found it adequate for my 210 pounds. I have a few hundred miles on a pair of Brose S bikes (Levo and AtomX). The have more power on tap...

Rocky Mountain Advice, Size and Spec

At 175 cm (5’9”), I’m always a tweener. I test rode a medium and large 2020 Instinct last week. The Medium was doable, bit a little cramped. I would go with a Large for me.
