I won't be retro-fitting my E8000 to EP8.
I detune my eBikes. I usually run my Eco at about 1/3rd power. Roughly half power for Trail. A bit more for Boost, which I rarely use.
If my E8000 takes a crap, I would consider it (but the wiring has to be replaced). If the STUNLocker app won't work...
Half of my rides are with mixed groups. We are a group of 50-something dirtbike racers in a large club who have also been MTBing for 2-3 decades and riding MTB together for ten years.
In our group are two analog former state champs and two former pro team members (roadie) and a 145-pound ski...
This is not experimental. It has actually been done. Results verified with GPS.
If your wheel setting is 2200mm (on a 27.5" rim), multiply that times 0.62. That will give you 1364mm. Change your wheel size from 2200-ish to 1364-ish.
So, when your wheels are spinning super fast, the computer...
Token removal is Easy Peasy on the Fork. The shock is similar only different. Search YouTube.
I removed them all since I wanted plushness to be king to my aging joints. There is a chance that I might have to add spacers back in (maybe to the shock if it doesn't ramp up to my liking), but I'll...
Approaching 300 miles on my Heckler-S.
No issues on the Heckler.
Using STUNLOCKER, I reduced the wheel size by a metric factor of 0.62. I now get 28-MPH in Eco and about 32-MPH in Boost (apparently the new limit). I flipped the display to read KMH which shows a facsimile of the actual MPH (due...
I messed with the app last night and this morning. Being able to adjust by slider the assist % from 1-300+ and torque from X newton-meter to 70nm is handy.
I found that I benefited from dropping *down* the settings in Trail Mode from the full-tilt setting of the eTube app’s “High.”
I just bought the 99-cent version of STUNLOCKER for my 2020 Santa Cruz Heckler (e8000 motor and 7000 display).
I’ll poke around and read up to see if I want to do the $30 license.
The low camera angle was a necessary evil for my purpose.
I wanted to show the pedal movement vis a vis the motor.
I suppose I could have swapped views a bit for those more interested in the scenery. ;)
Raining in Phoenix today.
Epic riding conditions (moto and pedal) tomorrow.
I have a series of Way-Too-Long Santa Cruz Heckler Intro videos on my AZRickD YouTube page. There is a short one. But I crashed, so you should probably skip that one.

I puttered around my neighborhood last night. Getting things set and exploring the eTube app.
I’ll have a real test ride on Saturday. Video eventually.
My local trail — a half-mile ride to a 600-foot pile of lava rock that the local parks department decided to run a hiking trail through. Not a...
Oh, I don’t know about that.
I’m no Santa Cruz fanboy. I’ve never owned one and only swapped bikes with Santa Cruz owners a few times.
What I see is a company with a pedigree and a viewpoint that tasked itself with making a product that diverts from their normal. And their efforts resulted...
Last night I spent a couple of hours watching 2020 SC Heckler videos and reading the usual MTB and eMTB internet outlets.
There are gobs of video reviews and test-ride articles to keep an avid reader informed.
Air Park Bikes will have a few, at least for a parking lot demo. They are coming in batches and have to be set up.
I can also arrange a ride on mine at some point... if I actually get my hands on it.
No test ride of the Heckler (I call it the eBronson).
But I have ridden the v3 Bronson and like it.
I have ridden numerous Shimanos. I understand Santa Cruz going with it.
I consider this a rational extrapolation to the final product.
The bike is in a cargo box.
It’s dark in there.
It needs...
Funny thing, tho...
I’ve never really got along with Santa Cruz bikes. They just felt off to me. I preferred short and mid-travel Pivot and Ibis.
Then I recently hopped on the new v3 Bronson and had a ball.
