Most cycling kit is overpriced rubbish, it's much easier to stay warm and dry on the ebike because your not generally sweating has much as you do on an unassisted bike.
I'm seriously thinking of trying some of these if the weather turns bad enough...
I mostly ride my ebike on big days out in the Lakes, Peak etc, with a 504wh battery I mainly have to ride in eco and save trail mode for the steep technical climbs
Made in Sheffield steel chainrings for £40 including bolts seems like a bit of a bargain

10 or even 9 gears would probably fine on an emtb, but not it's not fashionable which lets face it is what drives a lot of the choices both manufacturers and buyers make
