Rail 7 with less than 10 rides all off road and the creaking definitely seems to be coming from the headset. Will address as per the suggestions here by @Davidwylie & @BrentD Thanks for posting reporting back @Drewf The creaking has been progressively getting louder. It's not motor or crank...
Came looking for the same issue? Just started doing it really bad. Rail 7. Seems to be coming from front end so time to dig in a bit I suppose. Does it not when pedaling or pedaling so thinking it's not motor / crank related. Several ideas listed here and will investigate further...
Need to own up to making a snap judgement on the original M6100 / M6120 brakes. After adjusting the lever contact point and bedding in the pads these brakes work fine for my "trail riding" and general use. It took couple of rides for the pads to bed-in and quiet down but now seem to work just...
Went ahead and grabbed one and it's built very well. Will fit into a Camelbak or small pack easily. Can also be used as a tripod for a phone if you desire. Wish the Purion wasn't so vulnerable but I've got three bikes with them now so this makes it easy to do flat repairs. Admit there's lots...
Ya get a pair for $30 shipped. Just food for thought. Never had an mtb with display so working through the process of field repairs. Just added couple of city ebikes as well so may pop for this as an option.
While trying to organize a repair kit to keep on the bike found this nifty gadget that would certainly help working on the wheels if you have a display or something else impeding from turning the bike upside down.
It's called the Handlebar Jack Ingenious idea. Anyone use one of these?
Really think Bosch and related brand name dealers need to make diagnostic software available to the public for those of us who like to work on their own equipment. Not like most of us don't know how to do these things. Finding that many bike shops really don't have the knowledge required to be...
You might think it's good but if you were trying to make a living, paying bills, rent, employees and vendors not so much. If companies and businesses close you'll know it then. Fallout from the last year and change is going to continue. Batten down the hatches. Hope your bike comes in. If...
This isn't just about YT, the global supply chain is decimated. Stick a fork in it for the time being and most likely for remained of 2021. They'll be playing catch-up for some time. The new normal is constantly changing. Hang in there, gonna take some patience!
Ouch! Injuries are game changers but if you can still ride that's what counts. Everyone has their own bar and skill level. As this applies to "us old blokes" keep it real. I'm 65 and have some hardware in my neck from 43 years ago. Broken C5 - C6 vertebrae. Never too proud to roll or even...
@Dr. Ergal - best solution I've seen and great excuse to get couple of new tools? FWIW the UNIOR 1671.2/4 is available in the US from the mfg for $24.67 shipped. I'd consider this tool a must have for any Bosch Gen 4 CX equiped bike.
@Bearing Man your web site is very well done. Those videos really helped me see what makes these things tick. Have a new bike w/ Bosch CX gen 4. Your complete bearing rebuild was simply outstanding. Seems like water has a way of finding it's way into these? Is there any added precaution...
Sorry for the caliper issue. I've also got a new Rail 7 and read through the thread. Bleeding bike hydraulics isn't that difficult. Couple of YouTube videos and you'll be good to go. You'll also feel that much more comfortable knowing exactly how the system works. My only point is, don't be...
Yes, can see that happening quickly!!!
First thing to is to try and get a better brake lever as the Deore's seem too spongie. Probably change out the Purion for Kiox next. See that controller being pretty vulnerable. Will take it slow while paying attention to things other riders suggest.
Fully expected my first EV to be an Energica moto but ended up with a Trek rail instead. Still got two wheels so I'm stoked to see how much fun it is. The eMTB will be better for me in the long run.
