Do's and Don'ts for e-bike battery care. What do you do to keep your battery performing at its best?

My laptop has software which limits charging to 60% if desired but when it comes to all the other devices not sure if the "juice is worth the squeeze?" One thing that does seem to kill batteries is leaving them completely discharged for a length of time.

Impact of California rain on my local trail

Still holding out to see what's happened up on Mt. Diablo and the Oyster Point trail? Sycamore Creek is another one that had a nice home made bridge built over a huge washed out ravine but I'm guessing it may be impassable now? Need to do some recon soon as the days are looking pretty good...

    Alternative Purion Mount?

Very clever, but found I'm using it once in a while very quickly where if it weren't handy at the bars I'd be walking it up the hill. Over the esthetics of it now and just enjoying the bike as is. If I were more aggressive rider would probably swap it out or go to something else.

Roger that, especially before my eMTB. I'm shocked what I can ride up now!

    Bosch ABS demonstrated on EMBN

We don't see ABS on dirt motorcycles, yet there is the dual sport adventure bike segment that uses it extensively. The systems also allow T/C to be combined with ABS. That said, the level of added complexity is significant. It's not that difficult to figure out yet the manufactures such as...

    Running out of Adventures ?

Convenience is having a ride from the front door but there's always something else to aim for which usually requires transporting. I'm definitely a creature of habit.

getting started on a steep incline

When this happens usually find myself going back down and trying it again. Especially if I'd made the same climb before. Sometime I forget to enable T/C

    Trek eMTB Survey

@Mitch@Trek props to you and Trek for doing this. I'm super happy with my Rail 7 for going on two years now. The one thing I'd like to add is this - being able to do a simple diagnostics or software update without having to make a trip to the shop. Know this is a Bosch thing but I can...

Bosch CX gen 4 chainring nut

eThirteen steel chain ring (stock). Mine has been good since new. Checked it last weekend after just shy of 1000 Km and it was tight. Never been off yet, so assume it's still got that o-ring as stock. Put register marks on both since new so as to ID any issues ASAP. In my riding there...

    Trek advisory suspension settings.

"Your results may vary." IMHO lots depends on your riding style and terrain. Play around with it and experiment. Suspension has come so far on these bikes it's really amazing!

Trek 7 Buying advice against Cube Specialized

Pretty hard to tell someone else what's best for them. For me the Rail 7 couldn't be better. Most my rides are 20 - 25 miles with 2,000 - 3,500 feet of climbing, single track, fire roads and bit of street to and from. The thing is a mountain goat IMHO. Does everything I ask of it. Still...

New Rail 7 2022 - chain slipping off of the front chainring.

This last week I did a detail service on couple of Allant +7s city bikes with no rear suspension. The bikes have the "speed" version of the Bosch motor, with the crank arms off both chain ring nuts (same part) had half the torque required. Definitely use blue (med strength) thread lock...

    Trek freewheel / hub question?

Think that's the ticket - I'd tried that but did so using the outside lock nut, not the cone nut underneath it, 1/4 turn felt odd and didn't break the opposite nut off. Didn't want to mess up the threads. I'm the slowest wrench in town but try not to mangle things. Thanks again for your...

    Trek freewheel / hub question?

@Aikone thx for the effort but that's not it. Uses cartridge bearing. @Mikerb did try that but it didn't "feel right" trying to back off the nut. Thinking now, I put the cone wrench on the outside nut and probably should've used the inside one on the "non-drive" side. Will try that next...

    Trek freewheel / hub question?

A bit off eMTB but since there's so many who wrench here thought maybe someone might have an answer? This is a Allant 7 Trek eBike. Anyone know how to extract the freehub body to grease it? Have taken off non-drive side cone / lock nut / spacer but nothing. Can't get under the hub body to...

    Rail OEM pedals

Mine came with zip zero nada. It's listed on the brochure and I asked because I like to keep stuff for other bikes and what not. Trek owned store as well. Got the bone! But wait, they did try and sell me a set and one of their wave helmets etc. etc. It was like buying a car and the closer...

Hey guys, newbie here. I’m from northeastern US

Nothing better than having trails or riding access close buy. We're both lucky like that. Power of the eMTB is just as useful for flying home on the tarmac as it is for shredding hills in the woods. This is a good forum to learn about your bike and everything associated with it. Enjoy-it!

Hey guys, newbie here. I’m from northeastern US

What are you riding Andrew? Where about in NE? These bikes are truly amazing. Game changer for me @ 66 to be able to actually enjoy a mountain bike ride without destroying myself. Nothing flat in California where I ride. Have some family in upstate NY, where having a eMTB would be amazing...

2022 Heckler Recall: "Battery could fall out".

Not that it helps anyone, but Trek went through something similar last year with batteries sliding down the trail. The fix, a strap. Still keep mine on just for piece of mind ;)
