Thanks Rod,
I had thought that the linkage arms would be less likely to wear. I figured I'd order one anyway due to the long wait. Don't really want to wait for weeks for the axle to arrive and then find I also need to wait for the arm.
Interesting point on the solid lube bearings. I've...
Are your Slx calipers 7120s?
If so, they should be capable of giving plenty of power...
If you've got standard resin pads and cheap pressed steel discs then a set of sintered pads and proper discs will make a huge difference.
I've got Deore 6120s and with some XT ice tech discs, the brakes...
So... I guess my linkage is knackered...
Last ride, had a hell of a rattle develop. Thought shock bushings at first but it was a definite rattle rather than a knocking.
Stripped it all down earlier in the week and found pretty much all the bearings needing either regreasing or replacing...
Sorry but that's just nonsense. It handles steep, rough, chunky stuff just fine if you know how to handle it.
Ok, it might take some getting used to if you're coming from something slacker but to say a trail bike with a 66' ha doesn't ride anything beyond blue/ green is rubbish.
5'7" here in a medium Rise.
It feels like a short bike for some reason. It's not... But it feels short and tall. It's mainly noticeable for me when the saddle is up. It always way felt like I was pitching forwards.
2 things that helped mine were a longer dropper post to get the saddle right...
Well, thought I'd pop back and answer my own question.
I swapped the standard stem for the Turbine R that was on my hardtail.
Seeing as my Hardtail is currently on turbo trainer duty, I won't miss it for a bit.
Standard Orbea stem - 115g
RaceFace Turbine R 35 50mm = 139g
Nice.
Pretty sure my H30 came with an Orbea stem. None of this fancy RaceFace stuff 😂
Although that Aeffect is pretty light and cheap so I might grab one rather than the Turbine R 35 that I was going for... Half the price and like, 10g more.
The only issue I've had with minions is that I rarely manage to get enough lean to properly engage the side lugs (on the back, Dhf up front always seems to work).
Swapped to a Dissector and problem solved. Still has almost all the climbing grip and brakes really well.
I found the rolling...
Is there such a thing?
With a DRH Maxxgrip on the back, it almost feels like cheating. That tyre just grips and grips. Up or down.
Where do you find you're having traction problems? What pressures are you running?
I've got slik kick and sram butter. I have no scientific basis to compare them but the finger test has them feeling similar. The RSP stuff feels a bit 'thinner' or maybe 'runnier'. They're both super slippy and both much more fluid than regular cheap grease.
I bought the SRAM butter from one...
My bike goes in the back of the car, dropper down. It usually spends the next week in the garage with the dropper still compressed ready for it's next trip in the car.
It won't cause problems.
Has anyone bothered to weigh their standard stem from a Rise?
Just got some carbon bars and fancy a new stem but wondered whether anyone knows the weight of a standard stem? I can't bare to add weight lol.
And yeah, I know I could take mine off and weight it but if someone's already done it it...
Yes, but even if it is thermalite or whatever, the frame will be fixed at say 5 points each side? Maybe one fixing per block? Once the frame fixings are nipped up, the frame is pulled to the wall and the tension in the fixings holds the frame far more securely. It's becomes an assembly that has...
Had a quick look online and it looks like you've got a Zeb RC?
My experiences WITH the RC damper haven't been particularly inspiring.
Actually, my experience with RS air springs haven't been great either. I went through a1 B1 c1 air springs, woth and without a luftkappe and still couldn't...
Ah, so the price on the website was the total cost? I was looking at a pair of xm481s on either 350s or 240s but wasn't sure whether it was price + import + vat or whether it was all included in the price on the website.
I think you can have too much travel. Particularly when more travel ends up with fatter stantions.
You can easily end up with a fork that too stiff and unsuitable for certain types of riding.
I think damping is more important that travel. What fork do you have?
I'm in a similar situation and will be getting one from here when the time comes.

There's a video on the site of Eddie Hall (worlds strongest man) trying to knock one down with a sledgehammer which is quite entertaining.
If you don't mind small bits of...
