That's right; my LBS will convert your new bike to tubeless at no extra cost as long as it's "tubeless ready" to start with. I think many new "tubeless ready" bikes come with valves in the accessory pack these days. If yours didn't they're probably in the mechanics tool box.
We have two eBikes, a Boardman Pro Carbon and a Whyte E120 MTB covered on our home insurance with Aviva. It was £28 extra for the year. You give them the cost of the dearest bike and they work out the premium from that.
You've still not got mate. The point was about an alternative; an option. So that when you order your bike you could say "I like everything about that bike, could I have the 350Wh version @ £4,400 quid instead of the 625Wh version @ £4.600" for instance. Just like buying an 1100cc car instead of...
The Bosch 625wh Power Tube from my bike weighs 4.024Kg.........I just weighed it on a very accurate digital scale. I understand that there are lighter bikes with lower powered batteries around but they are outside of my budget mainly so I was simply posing the question - is there a place in the...
I've been reading a bit about the potential for a very high energy density aluminium battery. I understand that finding the right electrolyte and anode material is the problem to be solved but potentially an Al battery could have three times the energy density of an Li battery. Al is also one of...
I didn't start this thread to imply that heavier bikes waste power. It was more to do with the fact that I'm probably toting round two kilos of battery that I don't need. From reading other threads I obviously use my legs a lot more than some so two kilos is really significant. For me weight is...
My new bike, a 2021Trek Powerfly 7, has a 625wh battery. A big improvement over the last Powerfly I had with a 500wh battery. Or is it? The 625wh battery weighs over 4kg, a good 1.5kg more than the 500wh battery and a good 2kg more than the 400wh Shimano battery on my wife's bike. I always use...
No, I haven't had much chance to try many ebikes, just a quick ride on other people's occassionally. So it's been a bit random, a very mixed bag and not always the right size. For me that's one other point against 29ers. I'm quite small, just on the cusp between small or medium bike sizes on...
After 25years+ of riding 26" wheel MTBs my first experience of an ebike was a 29er. I had been riding a bike I'd built myself; a Whyte E120 Carbon FS frame, 130mm DT Swiss carbon forks etc. Weighed in at just over 12kg. The Trek Powerfly 7 felt like a tank by comparison to be honest. I put down...
My 2018 Trek with the gen2 Bosch motor had a little drag over 25kph but it was minimal. The 2021 Trek I have has virtually no drag, in fact reduced drag is one of the main features of the gen4 motor. I guess if Bosch are saying they've reduced the drag there must have been some in the first...
I was responding to posts saying that the current circumstances may offer opportunities to companies like Hope. You may be right that it's not part of Hope's (or any other company's) strategy to become an OEM supplier but even if it were it would be a large and difficult step and I'm sure you'd...
The problem for companies like Hope is making the step change to being a high volume production supplier. The investment needed is massive. I know that CNC machined, anodised goodies convey a feeling of substance and quality but the truth of the matter is that you are more likely to achieve...
I just read an article on Bike Radar that went some way to explain how prices have been affected by the new tariff structure we have with the EU in respect of the domestic content of goods (bikes) moving to and from the EU. The article was quite interesting but it didn't relate to the massive...
