I always put vaseline on the valve core. Not for any particular reason apart from the fact that I have a tub of it!
Anyway it does a reasonable job of keeping the valve core in working order.
I was always under the impression that the tyre beads sat on the tape to hold everything in place and helped to form a seal.
But it seems that's not the case for you guys!
Suppose it depends on tyre/ rim combination and how tight a fit they are 🤔

When mine played up it made the chain jump off the chainring on long bumpy/ grassy decents.
That's when I took the chain guide off because it wasn't easy getting the narrow/wide setup right.
Anyway...
That's too narrow to get a long lasting seal.
I use wider gaffer type tape and fit one edge against the edge of the rim whilst cutting the overhanging side edges so the tape can go round the rim. Then Stanley knife the cut side of the tape into the edge.
It sounds complicated but easy enough...

If it's good enough for farmers then a poxy MTB wheel won't bother it 👍
I've been using it for years, it doesn't dry out like latex but does leak through the sidewalls, so a top up every 6 months or so is required.

Well to be honest I've never used the genuine Shimano pads with the 2.3 discs.
The Uber pads fit ok and there's an assortment of material to try.
The ones with heat fins also fit, although I only used them for a week in the Alps.
Regarding magnet with my Bosch setup. I removed the mounting plate...
I use whatever pads are available.
Sometimes Uber pads or some cheap resin Chinese shit.
Depends on weather you are x country or downhill racing.
Just stick something in and stop overthinking it.
During my working life as a commercial mechanic, the torque wrench that had the most use was 1" drive with a 36mm socket on it for the wheel nuts.
And if you were using an extension, then one guy would have to support the ratchet head while someone else would have to use their full body weight...
