It’s different in the US. They are banned on most trails. My state just wrote up new regs to specifically ban them by name on trails. I care a lot about what people think as I want people to not support the ban.
Most rides are 16-18mph. Lots of people have disabled their speed limiter. The 2017 bike I tested was good for 23 mph.
The other features reduce effort but not in a way to simulate a road bike by accounting for weight and drag.

I am not fast enough to brag online about my segment times but I do like to track my own effort, so I wish that the power meter in the bike would pair with my Garmin as a normal power meter. The Turbo Levo does that, but I realize that few to no other bikes do.
When the Giant app uploads, the calories and watts seem to be including the work of the motor. But when a Turbo Levo uploads, it works as a normal bike power meter and only sends Strava the work that the rider did. I think Giant should fix that.

You can’t really simulate a normal MTB because the only difference is weight so it would have to give more assist only when going up a hill. Not sure how it would do that unless you used the angle sensor and required the user to zero the angle when they were on level ground. And then the phone...
