I don't think it's just the warfare potential of drones, I think that it would easy for the Chinese government to map every square inch of the USA, military bases, water supply, population centers, etc. and for the public to do all of the work for them.
I think it's an obvious security issue.
Maybe unrelated entirely, maybe not.
Gist of it is that the US DoD has designated DJI as a 'Military Company' which result in at least drone exclusions, but possibly all DJI products in the USA. DJI is suing to overturn the ruling...
I don't know your particular hubs, but usually you can purchase a new freehub for about $35 and just swap that part on your current hub with minor disassembly to swap from XD to whatever it is that you need.
Sounds like the small initial investment would be saved back by running the longer...
I've visited spots where it's just a boring wide mostly straight jeep road up, for a rad descent. If I lived in those spots, for sure, I'd prefer a full power. But then again, I'd want a full power DH or at least Enduro bike, not a trail bike!
Where I live it's very rough, hot and undulating...
The motor weighs .7#s (claimed) less than the new Bosch cx. Hopefully Bosch will offer the race option again which will get that down to .4#.
Batteries watt per kg are the same so no difference there.
Bosch told Crestline the motor was designed with a '3 figure power number planned...' that...
The battery weight is identical watts per kg to all the leaders with their newest batteries including Bosch, Fazua (announced), Orbea, etc.
The DJI motor is also basically the same as electric motors are nearly all remarkably similar, right down to the rattle. Bosch has already shared that...
Why would any manufacturer share bike plans with a bike manufacturing competitor which would be required to integrate a spec (or could just be copied afterwards)? That's suicidal.
Amflow screwed themselves (imo) by going into the bike manufacturing business.
They could have sold a LOT of...
Can you feel the 20 watts of drag (just a guess, but it's been measured out there) on a full power e-bike? Probably not.
Can your battery feel it and therefore drains faster? Of course.
Which is exactly why the Pinion gearbox bikes already have a reputation for poor efficiency.
It's a logical weight for those sorts of components and the big battery.
I'm impressed honestly.
Pinkbike stated in a Podcast that the Trek E-slash is probably the best descending bike, or e-bike, they have ever ridden. Ever.
The bike comes first and foremost. The motor is second and not everyone is going to demand such excessive amounts of power. Would I skip over a great Crestline, Transition or even Orbea with the new Bosch to buy a DJI with trail geometry and no stateside support? No f**king way!
IF everything...
I mean, I get that you want insane power because of your age but surely you must recognize that 99% of these Amflows are going to physically capable riders, often in places that don't even have those sort of climbs. Certainly not 100% of the time.
I don't get the obsession with the max power, I really don't. We are in danger of getting moved into a category along with motorized motorcycles, if the power wars continue.
Now the obsession with best integration, lowest weight, most reliability, etc. I get.
The Pinion just isn't a consideration from my point of view. The noise alone is just such a turn off. Not to mention the rest of the bike.
To me, I feel like the Bosch and the DJI are very comparable (I don't care about the fancy screen), it's just that DJI choose to REALLY bend the letter of...
I was a bit awkward on the e-bike at first, it was mostly techy climbs that were sketchy.
I decided to remove my clipless pedals from my e-bike (still use them on my normal bike), take my time, and just figure the bike out. There is definitely a learning curve with the extra weight, power &...
Businesses, have to make tough decisions to survive.
Logic says that you shouldn't buy from a competitor, particularly when that competitor will steal your work if it's profitable.
If that logic makes me obviously 'American', I'm flattered, because frankly that's not how I view some Americans...
