No, they were installed to make the shock longer to use a longer strike without bottoming the yoke on the seat tube. Not yet on the SL, but on similar shock mount bikes.
I’m running a 650# spring now. It is very plush with no bottom out. The jade x also has 3 positions so you can lock out for climbing. I also am running the cascade link.
I spent a week bashing down the Appalachian mountains in north Carolina with these wheels and tires, including a day at a bike park. Rocks, roots, stumps, drops and everything else you can think of. They worked very well.
