The Orange County area is pretty notorious for ticketing e-bike riders. Secondhand information though since I rarely ride in the area. I've seen the staff at Chino Hills State Park* shouting at anybody riding anything e-powered.
*yes, not strictly OC
I managed to hit up the Orbea demo day in San Clemente yesterday and tried out a 23 Wild and a (prior year) Carbon Rise.
IMHO the Wild really took a step in the right direction with weight, fit, and balance. At 175cm, last gen's S/M was too small and the large was roomy enough but a bit on the...
Did you have any difficulty pairing your bike to the sideloaded Mission Control? I just performed the sideloading, but it doesn't show my preregistered bikes and won't detect them in pairing mode.
My KSL motor squeaked when I pedaled with assistance turned off from Day 1. LBS tried to say that's normal, and I didn't put up with it - no e-bike should squeak when pedaling without assistance, particularly an SL with a small battery and light weight. Specialized replaced the motor under...
Subjective experience here with Zeb/Secus - Secus in general never really blew me away. The one exception was one amazing day right after a lower service and full Secus rebuild, but by the second day it was back to normal. I'm hoping to get a chance to test back-to-back with a 2023 Zeb later in...
KSL is really an Enduro with some pedaling help. I rode a Levo and KSL at Mammoth this past summer and on blue trails the Levo is fine, not giving up much at all to the KSL. It's when you're getting on the edge of your comfort zone that the KSL really comes into its own.
No worries. In that case you may be better served with a lighter bike (Specialized SL, Trek Fuel EXe, Orbea Rise, Pivot Shuttle SL, etc.).
I'd suggest giving a lot of points something that has the option of using a range extender - ideally an extender with a form factor that could fit nicely in...
I'm about the same weight and ride both SL and full-fat.
Just need to decide what's more important to you:
Downhill tech, easier handling, traditional MTB feel - Lightweight / SL bike
Uphill tech, more range / elevation / assist - Full-fat bike
Both are great, but if I had to pick just one I'd...
Thank you. It's actually S206500009 for my Gen 3 Levo. I posted about it on the small parts thread but I'll update the post you quoted in case anyone else runs into the same problem.
Has anyone done any controlled studies on whether cleaning and lubing a chain used in MTB conditions more often makes it last longer than leaving a "long lasting" lube? I don't have any data, but I'd guess that frequently cleaning MTB chains is a must, in which case paying extra for a lube with...
Let me ask a follow-up question for you all: If you have the saddle in either the downhill or uphill position and the trail flattens out for a bit, how is the experience of briefly riding in the wrong position? Assuming that for either laziness or trail conditions it's not worth taking a hand...
It's fine if you're not keen on "light" type e-bikes, but at least in the case of KSL vs Levo, that's not true at all. The weight advantage is ~10 lbs and the extender adds a little over 2.6 lbs. Nowhere near closing the gap.
(Speaking for myself) The subjective experience is vastly different...
I don't know if you're trolling or we're just not communicating effectively. Either way, at this point I'm just going to move on.
I'm hoping to hear from @Zimmerframe or anyone else who's actually tried a Switchgrade, whether in their opinion its saddle tilt party trick is a worthwhile tradeoff...
Sorry, I don't follow your reasoning. If your travel is maxed for the frame and you want to add a Switchgrade without changing the height of your seat rails, you'll need to reduce the travel to compensate for the Switchgrade's extra "stack height" . How is that not giving up dropper travel?
