It’s a different noise.....yes more of a whine as its direct gear drive rather than a belt on the Brose Levo motor. Having said that the Levo motor has a different noise to my friends Bosch and anothers Shimano. The ability to pedal through the speed restriction is it’s biggest advantage to me...
Look whats back?
Will get some weights up in the morning, also going to do some comparisons on the stock Sram NX mech/cassette verses the Sram XX1 Eagle I’ll be fitting and stock alloy Roval’s/Carbon Rovals.
Full built spec tbc but will be Full Gas raw.....sticking with air and 150 travel as agree with Rob on handling, I have 160 & coil on other Levo’s so might bang them on just to test, I’m sure Spech will have already done this.
This is my own build........very time consuming so would probably cost more than painting a frame!!! I refinished the three Levo’s as part of deal with MB boys as we will race them this year.
Next step is a trip to my local wheel refurb guys (ACC wheels in Liphook Hampshire - top guys if you need alloy wheel refurb ?) who for a few beers will stick it in their dip tank over night to remove the paint.
More to follow over next few weeks.....
Thought I’d put up a start to finish build thread on my Levo SL.
For those that don’t know I built up an alloy Levo (three actually for MB Cyclery in Haslemere, have a look at their instagram for pics) in the same Raw brushed alloy finish/process so when the SL was released I knew A. I’d have...
So stripped mine down to frame and now off for dipping?♂️
Motor is diddy, so small & light in comparison to Levo. Nice cable routing, much better connections, all looks extremely well thought out.
Very similar in battery usage, solely going on the displays showing 50% (this could be out +/- ) but interesting none the less. Smaller motor uses less power so doesn’t need as large a battery?
Perception of weight is a very good term.....easy to get tied up in numbers. SL feels/rides lighter, also interesting to note both the SL and Levo ridden over our 10 mile loop in turbo came back with similar battery usage.
I’m going to put my 2pence worth in here on the weight issue.
For some background I have a 2019 S-work Levo and 2020 Ali version with ‘up spec’ in components (XX1/Carbon wheels etc) and from a seat of your pants view point there is no noticeable difference in riding experience or battery usage...
It’s sightly noisier but not much, its gear drive rather than belt so to be expected. Big plus I found is ability to pedal through the limiter and it feels like a normal bike, next to no drag unlike my Levo that feels like pedalling through treacle?♂️
Can’t bast it as that leaves a rough surface, fine for a key if you paint or powder afterward, but if you want smooth finish that you can then ‘brush’ , it needs to be smooth.
I chemically dip the frame to remove paint then hand finish.....only way to do it.
I’ll put some progress pics up but...
