So... you press down on the left pedal and there's this horrible noise. A kind of grinding noise, followed by clunking noise... definitely a bearing gone in the motor...
Took the bike straight into the LBS. Demonstrated the noise to the mechanic. Who unscrewed the rear axle, greased it and...
Ended up going a different route. I borrowed a set of Magped pedals from a mate who was concerned that I kept losing my pedals on the rocky rough stuff. I had an old pair of Shimano MTB boots around and fell in love with the pedals, even though I could only manage an hour in the shoes before the...
Just a quick update on this. I re-fitted the quick links on the two chains I was using in rotation, waxing every 200-250km.
I changed out the complete drive chain last week at 5000km because the chain was starting to suck on the front sprocket and changing at the rear was getting a bit hit and...
Here, have a listen to this and see if your noises are the same...

The first time I heard that rattle when I was pedalling, I was sure it was the motor... it was cable slap inside the battery compartment. The second time I heard that rattle and was convinced it was from the motor... it was the back axle in need of a bit of grease. The third time I heard that...
A cracking vid. Thought it might be good when right at the start the young lass took the cliff edge to get around the puddle
Lost count of the number of places I'd have fallen off. And there's no way I'll be driving the delivery truck to that Rifugio!:eek:
Don't tell @Zimmerframe...
I'll take a look. We're in the middle of a major drought here, so wet feet would be a bonus! ?
I'm a bit wary of Five Tens, though. The sizing is odd. I have a pair size 45 which are identical (in every detail, including colour and stitching) to a pair size 47. And by identical, I also mean in...
How are these for width?
I've got feet like flippers - wide and thin at the front and narrow at the back. Still looking for something that will fit properly.
Tried "Wide" fittings on some other brands but they were mostly the same width sole with the upper being oversized for fat feet. When...
My battery lock was an absolute sod for the first few weeks of use (I take the battery out after every ride, to charge at home).
Cured it with a large amount of WD40 PTFE spray. Took several applications but hasn't been any more trouble since.
I'm retired, but I love riding out at night. However, I have Hope R8 lights on the bars and a Cateye Volt800 as a helmet light. Night riding is a joy.
However, I do understand exactly what you are talking about if you don't have the right kit. I was a bit late back from an afternoon ride a...
Sounds odd to me. When on tarmac I spend a lot of time over the 25kph support cut off. I've never noticed any difference between having the motor switched on or off (I've tried both) in terms of resistance. (I've got a Gen 4 in a Jam² 6.7)
Of course you can. But maybe not with your missus or your teenager.
I ride out with mixed groups at least twice a week. No problem in keeping up with them or them keeping up with me.
But it's like everything else in this world: it's all in that mix. I don't have a teenage son in that mix...
I find that the Purion consistently reads high when compared against both GPS and other riders with Yamaha and Shimano motors when we ride side by sie. Both bikes, my wife's and mine, read identical speeds when travelling along together. The difference to Garmin is around 5%.
Which is correct...
My wife loves hers. She has the 6.7 EQP. The only minus point is that the supplied lights are dreadful. Okay for town use. Okay for emergency use. No use at all for anything else.
The back rack is intergrated into the metal mudguard. It will take a full packweight, unlike most full suspension...
I'm the same dimensions as you. I've got a size L Jam² 6.7 and it is just a tad long for me.
I ride my size L normal MTB once a week and I always notice the stretch going back onto the Jam². I'm considering changing the bars to something a few cm shorter and a little upswept. I haven't tried...
Lovely bike.
That's a tiny blemish that you can colour up yourself if it bothers you. After the first few outings it'll have plenty of companions...
It might look horrible to you on first unpacking, but it's a bike. A mountain bike, no less. It's going to get dinged, chipped and...
