Good move switching to XT brakes. Go to 170mm travel on fork upgrade. I use Kovee Pro 30s as my race wheelset and they are amazing, especially in tight woods. I plan on getting some Line Pro 30 for everyday use.
I did a frame swap on a Gen2 Rail 7 a couple years ago (cables route on the bottom...
The internals for the Line Speed and Line CX are the same except for the PCB and that limits what container files can be downloaded. Container files are a bit limited for the Line Speed so I was hoping for feedback on chainring size selection.
My Rail 7 and 9.8 are both still under warranty, so...
1) To my knowledge the PCB in the smart motor should recognize any of the smart batteries. Just make sure you purchase a 500w smart battery (BOSCH P/N: EB12.100.018) so the power plug / cables will work. Full disclosure, I have not tried doing what you are proposing, and I am in the US so part...
Trek will warranty the wheel after breaking spokes a couple times. Have the shop request warranty credit instead of a replacement wheel (what I did the last time I warrantied a Rail rear wheel). If you don't buy a new wheel through the shop you still have some credit for other parts.
De nada friend. You should update the battery with the flow app or at the shop after erasing its brain. It will take a bit of riding for it to start giving relatively accurate range data again.
FYI for others wanting to perform a battery reset on a Rail. You access the power button through a small hole in the battery cover (near the bottom at the "T" in Trek). I used a small hex wrench (2.5 or 3mm) to press and hold the button.
The scene has changed at Dupont and lower Pisgah from twenty+ years ago (it is a zoo now). The Grandfather district on the other hand is my favorite. I very rarely see anyone except on 21 Jumps or School House Ridge, sometimes on Yancey. As much fun as Grandfather is riding bio, electrons make...
Anyone tried installing a Line Speed motor in a Rail frame? I have an extra Rail frame, an Allant 8+S, and kiox computer that I would like to combine. Just wanted to know if it works well if someone has tried it.
I have been running a 170mm Fox 38 with mino link set high for about three years and it is just right. I ran a 3.0" tire for a while and the geo was a little "floppy". I like very little sag (15%) so a 180mm fork with 25% sag might be ok.
I have been running a 36t chainring on my Rail 7 for the last three years and on my Rail 9.8 for the last six months. I upgrade all my Rail bikes with XT 11sp and install the Bosch 1mm countershaft spacer behind the chainring for clearance on the chainstay. To solve the chainguide issue I add...
Just so everyone knows the new "Low profile" Line Comp rim has a sleeved connection on the rim instead of a welded seam. This is a downgrade that makes the rim heavier, weaker, and prone to leaking when run tubeless. I refuse to run the new rims and bought several of the previous gen rims to...
XT 11sp shifter/mech with Dura Ace 12-27 cassette and 36t chainring
Dura Ace poly cables for shifter and dropper post
E*13 Helix 155mm cranks with Frogs
Fox 38 Factory and DHX2 shock stroked to 62.5mm and 525lb spring
Bontrager Kovee Pro wheels with 180mm rear rotor

This is the correct answer. Any Line 30 wheels I use with tubes I remove the Bontrager rimstrip and replace with gorilla tape. I can change the tires without a lever after that. I put 2oz of sealant in the tubes and rarely have to inflate or worry about thorns.
I totally agree about conditions and longevity. Water ingress seems to be the Achilles' heel of the Bosch motor from what I have read. I stopped riding in wet conditions decades ago, if I can help it. I am in the Piedmont and Blue Ridge on the East Coast (~40-60"" annual precipitation). We close...
I have had five bikes with Bosch motors and none of them have failed. Even the two I sold are still going strong. Over the past four years I have only seen one at the shop that has failed, and that was first ride in the parking lot, faulty board. A riding buddy has a Specialzed with a Brose and...
My bad, been out of the specialized ecosystem a while and did not realize we were talking about the little ebike. Considering that it has a Mahle, it might be ok. I have never really liked the proprietary offerings from Specialized or Trek (mainly in terms of suspension), except the Judy FSX Carbon.
I have been upgrading my Trek Rail bikes from 12 speed to 11 speed for the past three years, mainly because of cost, durability, and the ability to run road cassettes for flat terrain and racing (drivetrain wear is spread over more cogs, and ideal cadence for a given range of velocity). I am...
Considering that you will have to warranty a kenevo with a brose motor if you ride, I feel like "Kenevo SL 50% off RRP UK price" is not a great deal unless you can't get a deal on a Bosch equipped sled.
I would guess it is the service advisory from last year with E*13 steel chainrings and shimano drive trains. The remedy is the installation of a 1mm spacer behind the chainring to modify the chainline. Still sounds like user error if you snap more than one chain. I have been running a spacer...
