Hey Posvar,
I currently line in Southern NJ and my wife is hot to trot to move to Charlotte. We’ve been watching homes past few years (of course prices went nuts) but anyway we’re probably moving there this upcoming year. My question, how are the trails in close vicinity to Charlotte (not...
I’ve had both…. A Trek Powerfly with Bosch and currently a Canyon Spectral ON w EP8. Tbh, I don’t notice the EP8 bring down on power. I rarely, if ever, use the highest modes… I mean I’m still trying to get some exercise. (And they both have all the power you need, so that the Bosch may be...
Trek has a recall I understand for this problem, I’ve since sold my Trek but on very bumpy downhills it would shutoff. I believe the repair is to move somehow the battery lock.

I’m looking for some bling on my Canyon Spectral:On CF7…. It’s very “stealth”.. aka blah🤦🏻♂️
Looking at KMC website they have E series chains (for e bikes) , this is an X12 model, Is their a difference?
I waited on YT and was told maybe end of January, then the Canyon Spectral ON became available, got it from order date to my house in six days, this was months ago. Happy with my choice.
I’d look around and see what’s availabl, lotsa great ebikes out there...
Couldn‘t agree more… Especially that its an Allen key leads one to think it’s just ‘screwed in’; as you said if only there was a simple sticker showing 1/4 turn clockwise to release.. how hard is that!?
It‘s a motorcycle dirt bike technique, on the inside of almost any turn, the inside leg goes almost straight forward, helps weight the front wheel and if you slip it’s there to dab and (hopefully) make a save.
For follow up,
Shimano sent me the replacement lock, free of charge! , it helped taking a look at it, and help me with depth and angles to drill. I used a step drill bit along with a right angle drill due to limited space between fork, 28mm deep gets you to the ”tooth” and an addl. ~ 2 mm...
I hear ya! Just got off phone with Shimano and they’re sending me the lock mechanism, Canyon was no help.. All they’ve done is send me a link to an online quick start guide showing how to turn the key to remove the battery. (Facepalm). Doh!
I’m stuck, I’ve tried slipping a half inch wide, .025 spring steel piece and it hangs up, I’m pretty sure I’m up against the tooth. I’ve pulled it out and measured how far I got and it’s about maybe 2/3 to 3/4 of the battery thickness. I can’t get the tooth to move upwards to free the battery...
I see, so RE: your picture, For orientation I have to flip my phone upside down? I’m looking at the bottom of the lock mechanism attached to the top of the battery tube of the Canyon. So, remove battery cover, then slide thin flat steel past the first “tooth” towards the back and it should...
Philippe, I’m still stuck, removed cover, using small screwdriver it’s very easy to depress the piece of spring steel you’re showing me, in fact there is a small tab in a slot that’s visible after removing cover that you can move down with a screwdriver and that pulls the tab down. Still nada…...
Sweet, gotcha, Thanks. Now I’ve got to get Canyon or someone to send me that Shimano lock mechanism. (Even if I have to pay for it). I’m going to comb over all the manuals looking for directions on using that key, if I can’t find any I think I have a good argument that Canyon should send a...
Tschini, Is what you’re showing the hole you drilled (and then placed screw driver in this hole to release lock?) while the battery was in the bike to get it out? I took off the battery cover and two small pieces of plastic dropped out, it looks like the parts at the end of the lock barrel...
I can feel the spring resistance and the “key” stops after a quarter-turn but nothing, can’t get the battery out. I took off the battery cover and two small pieces of plastic fell to the ground, guess they’re from the lock. I’m still not sure exactly how I can get the battery out to replace...
