Kenevo Comp vs Expert. Which to buy? - EMTB Forums
Big difference in power between the two bikes, I’ve owned both bikes.
Depends what sort of motor assistance you’re after, you might be happy with the motor in the comp as it provides a very natural assistance compared to the brute force the...
This is the exact issue I had with the 2.8 butchers. They are useless on a 25kg ebike, cannot support the weight unless you run them at 40psi and then you have no grip or the tyre blows off the rim (happened to me twice. Bloody scary!)
Grab the black diamond casing 2.6” eliminator and you won’t...
I considered using them on my kenevo but decided to go for tyres with thicker sidewall instead.
Ditched the 2.8 butchers and put on 2.6 eliminator black diamond which transformed the bike. The black diamond tyres are far more suited to ebike application.
I had the same issues when upgrading the spring on my kenevo, turns out quite a lot of 2.25” stroke springs have enough stroke for a 2.5” application so don’t get too hung up on the fact it might not be a 2.5” stroke spring. (Do your homework though)
Cane Creek VALT spring in 2.25” sizing is...
I’m about 89kg’s and installed a 2.25x600 cane creek valt spring on my Kenevo Expert. Seems spot on for my type of riding (freeride/DH).
Something to be aware of though I noticed the spring has rubbed on the shock body so would try and get the ohlins spring in the correct spring weight if you...
Yep I had the exact same thing happen on a 2018 levo. Never bothered investigating what happened as I sold the bike not long after.
My levo had been derestricted so that possibly caused it?
I installed a cane creek valt spring on my kenevo with ohlins shock and even though there is sufficient clearance between the spring and shock body the spring has been rubbing on the shock body under compression.
It poses a few questions is the shock flexing under load or is the spring flexing...
Yes the 1.3 motor is an easy upgrade, only takes about 30mins to swap motors if you have the right tools.
The hardest part is getting your hands on a 1.3 motor for a reasonable price!
Best way to describe the difference between the 1.2e and 1.3 motors is that the 1.3 motor will pull you up any hill you want with minimal effort whereas the 1.2E can climb the same hill but a reasonable amount of pedal effort is required and you have to use the gears more. The 1.3 can tear up...
After owning a 2018 levo with 2.8’s and moving to a 2019 Kenevo Comp with 2.6’s they make the bike feel much more like a “regular” mountain bike and the handling is a little sharper. The 2.8 butchers feel like they don’t have enough tread for the size of the tyre and on certain surfaces are very...
Specialized Australia have been very helpful with any issues I’ve had with my Kenevo.
If you’re unhappy with the support you’re receiving I would contact Specialized Rider Care, they will have you sorted in no time.
If you can afford the expert then definitely buy it over the comp.
I have the comp because that’s all my budget would allow but if I had my time again I would have waited and bought the expert.
Could anyone do me favour that has a kenevo expert with the ohlins shock. I’m chasing some quick measurements from the shock.
- Bottom spring plate to top shock bolt
- bottom spring plate to bottom of shock body.
Apologies for my dodgy diagram below but you get the general idea of what I’m...
Bike Year: 2019
Manufacturer: WTB: rear shock
Model: kenevo
Asking Price: 1
Description: chasing a rear shock off a 2018 or 2019 Kenevo. Fox or Ohlins.
Has anyone upgraded and have a shock they need to sell?
Update - my LBS and Specialized have had further discussions about my motor and want to further investigate. Given the noise occurred after only 6 weeks of riding they don’t want to leave me without a bike/motor for a few weeks while it’s investigated so they have decided to replace the motor as...
I do feel like I am the first person to have warranty withdrawn but have been assured this is not the case.
Specialized global are definitely taking a tougher stance on the issue, this is highlighted by the removal of the ability to adjust wheel size in the new mission control app. They have...

you're right, its doesn't add up and to say I'm frustrated at Specialized is an understatement but I'm trying to put on a brave face.
The simple fact of the matter is I de-restricted and they picked up on it so warranty is void. (regardless of whether this was a failure that was going to...
