I’ve only been called a cheat on the trails once. It was a guy on a full sus carbon Specialized. He said it with a grin on his face, so wasn’t serious.
I just said that he’s the cheat, on a lightweight bike and he should try riding my lump of an eBike switched off, which is how I ride it most...
Got the bike fixed, after Saturday’s little episode, so spent a few hours on ‘my wife’s’ bike.
It’s still mine really, but I tell everyone it’s hers as it’s got her horrible padded gel seat on it! ?
Yep! She was worried about how I’d get on, as I had back injections on Monday and this was my first ride since, so didn’t expect me to break the bloody thing! She’s still talking to me, as I bought her some Nukeproof Neutron EVO pedals, so she doesn’t trash her legs and shoes!
Took my wife’s bike out this morning (hence the seat!), as I wanted to check that everything was working properly after the service the other day. All was well until I got a huge stick stuck in the drivetrain, bending the hanger. I’m not very popular!
Good point about forum traffic, and you’re right, not many people post good positive stuff, theres always more focus on negative on forums.
Forum aside, most owners that I’ve chatted to when our and about seem to have had issues though, so I can’t get my head around a company charging premium...
It makes no odds to me how people choose to spend their money, but as long as people keep paying extortionate prices, those prices will keep going up. Is a bike that’s cheaper actually “lesser” if that cheaper bike is more reliable, with the same components?
It’s been mentioned all over this...
You’re doing good work, take a bow! ?
But why get the most expensive bike if you can’t realise its full potential? Vanity? Bragging rights?
Seems strange to me, especially when there are many bikes for half the price that’ll be as good as a large percentage of riders will ever be able to...
Afford doesn’t come into it for me. Spending £13k on a bike would be pointless for me and my limited skills as I don’t need to have the most expensive ebike. I wonder how many people that buy the new 2022 model can actually ride it to its full potential.
