Thinking... Low battery voltage seems to be the core factor. Charger temps seem to matter for some. Could it be an issue with the voltage reading of those 4.5A chargers due to some component being unreliable under more borderline conditions?
As I said repeatedly, in my case it did not depend on temperature. It happened on a day with like 25+ °C outside in my basement, where also some heating pipes are. Could not have been cold there by any means. Definitely didn't feel cold when I sat there for half an hour re-plugging the darn...
@Stanny_uk
If it is a voltage thing, warming up the battery might just lift your bike over the threshold (voltage can increase with temperature, see smartphone batteries in cold winter). However, I had a completely drained bike and it was sitting in my 20+°C basement compartment. Needed to...
I honestly think they just try to avoid admitting a categorical issue with these chargers. They would have to recall them. Many people don't run their batteries dry and won't run into the problem.
We also don't know the exact reason of the fault we observe. There might be some unexpected...
I got my replacement charger after the first time check-up at the bike shop. I also believe I got one they had lying around.
@JonnyM For now just repeat the charging attempt (re-plug when you hear the charger relay switch off) until the bike charges correctly. Worked for me after ~20-30...
Addendum: Focus replied that they did not test my particular charging scenario. The timed wall plug might actually only disconnect one phase of the wall power and therefore the battery getting sucked dry might even depend on the relative orientation of the plug.
In addition, I suspect, it might...
So the battery still charges, it seems. The range indicator initially was rather low, but seemed to recover during the ride. I'll probably do a full charging cycle in the new future.
Thanks for the wise words, @Eckythump ! :)
I hope so too. How this can happen is a miracle to me. The charger should protect against back drain.
I managed to power up the bike after a couple of minutes of charging. Then I dialed in another 4h into the wall plug. I'll see in ~30 minutes what is what.
My battery was on 2 bars when I plugged it in for charging. I use a wall socket adapter with a timer, as I charge in my rather remote basement compartment. I charged the bike for just 1h as I didn't know when I would use it again. When I revisited the bike ~1 week later, the battery was...
Depending on the road I sometimes could go faster than 25 km/h, but I would have to pedal faster than comfortable. My bike comes with a 34T front sprocket. Could I upgrade it to a larger one? What would be the downsides?
I admit that the highest gear with the 34T fits the max motor speed very...
