Trek rail rear shock upgrade ideas please

Likely need trunnion mounting to make it fit. Not sure which Rail models are compatible with trunnion though. Might be the carbon ones only?

The loser of the test: Trek Rail 9.9.

I've been watching all of the reviews for the loam wolf EMTB shootout and its actually really hard to gauge what they like and actually think of the bikes. Maybe only the Levo and the Scott (from a Price/performance perspective) have been the 2 where they seemed to be in agreement. The whole of...

The loser of the test: Trek Rail 9.9.

The Zeb only came out less than 2 years ago and as mentioned above you can get the damper upgraded to the Charger 3, and even the debonair+ airshaft if you wanted. I know we all have a desire to own the latest and greatest, but unless you are racing EWS-E or something I think the actual...

The loser of the test: Trek Rail 9.9.

Hard to really know what to read into these reviews. I think the wheelbase and length commentary is likely riding a mullet/vs non mullet back to back as the actual numbers are quite minor. I think they are right about the sizing though and its going to work great for some and not great for...

The loser of the test: Trek Rail 9.9.

As someone who has been in the height range that is always between sizes, the 487mm reach Large for the 2022 Rails is going to be great. On the flip side I can see how this is not great for those who've been happy with the current reach size...

Can anyone recommend a good smallest hydration ruck sack but with a 3 litres fluid capacity

I use the USWE Ranger 9 (Ranger 9 / Black). Holds 3 litres, is low profile and the clamping mechanism is excellent - this bag does not move around on my back at all.

    Spacer removal on rear shock

Hi Davo - See here: 2021 super deluxe thrushaft travel spacer. - EMTB Forums Removing the spacer will increase the stroke to 230x62.5 (from 57.5, its a 5mm spacer) Think yourself, JP and me are all waiting on Rails and thinking of every possibility at this stage :P Def going to ride mine stock...

Trek rail rear shock upgrade ideas please

So having a rail 9.8 on order i can only live vicariously through this forum... Seeing everyone put longer travel on their Rails is giving me a travel envy. Is the stock 150/160 just not enough? Are people that are upgrading exceeding the stock bikes capability or is it just more of a want than...

    Hi everyone

How did you get on with this Tartam? I saw you asking about a different bike in another post, so I'm guessing not good? Don't be too worried putting it in the high position, with a longer fork out front the geo would be very similar to stock numbers.

The loser of the test: Trek Rail 9.9.

It's clear they have based the whole review on the wobbling battery which is why its so contradictory to their previous rail review. It's a shame really as it seems like it would have been easy to remedy. The rail is renowned for its capability and stability downhill and they have rated it for...

    Hi everyone

Is that at full compression btw Tartam? 4th Pic looks like there might be some travel left in the shock

    Hi everyone

Seat stay clearance looks good Shock reservoir clearance looks good Seat will be an issue - could try removing the mudguard and moving it forward in the rails a bit. Possibly have to go into the 'High' Mino link position i think, as a bonus i believe you will get an extra 5-6mm of travel in the...

    Hi everyone

Good call! Make sure you check it as it could be a tight clearance especially in the "low" position on a size M.

    Hi everyone

Looks great Tartam! What size bike are you running? And have you left the Mino Link in low or moved it to the High position? How much clearance do you have between seat stay and post at full compression? As for the fork - was it just a air shaft upgrade in the stock Zeb? Or did you upgrade the...

    Trek Rail 9.8 Clunk

Could also be the battery a bit loose (have a look here: Trek RIB Battery Alignment Procedure - Updated - EMTB Forums) Could definitely be backlash as mentioned above, that will generally be most noticeable when above the limiter over choppy terrain.

Rail (750Wh) 2022 Bosch Smart 750 Trek Rail Thread

E-Mtb magazine group test reviews are out now: Trek Rail 9.9 XX1 AXS – In our big 2022 eMTB group test Their Rail review seems to have been dominated due to a loose battery issue (and also the stock bontrager tyres, which seem to get routinely bashed on every Trek review on their site!)...

Trek rail rear shock upgrade ideas please

Some great info in this thread, about to pull the trigger on a 22 Rail 9.8 in L and was looking for validation on the following: Is it possible to remove spacers/install smaller spacers in the stock Super Deluxe Ultimate to achieve 230x62.5 stroke? And would their likely be any clearance...

Rail (750Wh) 2022 Bosch Smart 750 Trek Rail Thread

Great thread! Just curious, can you extend the stroke of the original Super Deluxe stock shock by removing some spacers? (either to 230x60 or even 230x62.5?) Mostly seeing coil shocks here also, are there fitment issues with air shocks in similar stroke lengths? (230 x 62.5)

    2022 Rail 7, Rail 9 or 9.8?

The 2022 Rail 9.8's and above get the new Geo, bigger battery and the Bosch Smart System where as the 9.7's and below do not (i assume they will get it next year). Might be worth researching how much these changes are worth to you personally and make a decision from there. I don't think there...
