    Major problems?

It was the stock Formula hub/spank 395 rim. I had it relaced with slightly longer DT 14/15/14 spokes has they have a little more tensile strength because of the forged butting.

    Major problems?

I’ve had 1.5 minor issues that where addressed very well 1) I broke a spoke on the rear wheel. When removing the cassette to swap the spoke I didn’t have the modern tool for a 12mm axle so I used the standard FR5 I’ve had for years. I needed to removed the axle “cone” for it to get a good...

    Anyone else breaking spokes?

Well broke spoke #3 on the second ride since spoke #2 broke. We is getting rebuilt with some DT 14/15 spokes and brass nipples. Hopefully the butted spokes will be more durable for me. They have been in the past.

    Rocky Mountain powerplay

When comparing battery size a watt hour is the same unit regardless of voltage. With the RM being a 48v system means it has less amp hours than a 36v battery. I don’t understand how they are using a lower rpm high torque motor with higher voltage. Voltage generally determines RPM amps torque.

    Anyone else breaking spokes?

I should add that both spokes I’ve broken at the nipple. Never had a spoke break that way before. Total PITA with tubeless.

    Anyone else breaking spokes?

I’ve broken 2 spokes on the stock spank 395 rear wheel in my last 4 rides. Anyone else experience this? Wondering if that wheel wind be long for the world. Thanks.

Looking for a straighter riser bar

I’m currently running a Spank 60mm rise bar it is swept 5* up and 10* back. Because the silly low stack height on the Meta Power I would really like to keep a 60mm or maybe even 80mm. I’ve been battling some finger numbness while riding and remembered today that I’m always having to find bars...

How was your ride, in one picture and one line?

What size tires are you running? They look huge.

    New hip blues

Still on OEM hips myself but 3 time under the knife to fix a femur break. There is a saying. “Too burly too early” creates problems. Better to take the down time now then having to redo the surgery or living with less than stellar results. Both of those suck far more than a few weeks off your bike.

Pure plushness: Revelation fork Smashpot coil spring upgrade

Thanks for putting this in my radar. I’ve been contemplating an ACS3 but this looks far superior and less expensive. A huge bonus that there are 11 spring options vs 6 from push. I might be ordering one very soon.

Levo base model sold out for the year?

I ended up with a meta power because it was much better spec than the base Levo and I would have had to spend an additional $600-1000 to bring the base to where I wanted with a dropper and coil shock. Yes I don’t have all the fancy tech of the Levo but I had my bike in hand 1 week after...

All bars are not created equal!

That is the nature of lithium batterys. The the bars there are only 2 ways to judge battery state of charge on lithium cells. Voltage drop and current used over time. I have no idea how the BMS in the Shimano battery’s determines battery life. I know the voltage drop curve of lithium cells is...

    Un-Official Clydesdale Thread

I wanted to circle back and update this thread. I’m 4 months into emtb ownership and it has been a great experience all around. I started 2019 at 269lbs. I figured if I’m dropping $4k on a bike I need to ride at least twice a week to amortize my cost down to about $40 a ride. It been a wet and...

    Steps e8000 walk mode

Something I've learned for my mototrials riding on steep hills: If the bike can power itself unless there is enough weight on the rear wheel to create traction it's just gonna spin.

    Steps e8000 walk mode

Doesn’t seem that challenging to shift gear in walk mode to me. It’s only a few clicks when you start or stop walking. You don’t have to pedal to shift before using walk mode.

    Coil Forks

I’m a huge coil spring fan. I intentionally got a bike with a lyrik vs a ebike 36 so I could do an acs3 kit. I figured I’d ride with the air spring for a while to delay the additional cost. I must say I’m impressed with how good air forks have become. I’m only 200 miles into emtb ownership and...

Imagine this as a Fat eMTB in a ski resort fun park - cracking

Coming from the moto trials, the Smage Bros are top notch. Pat could be the best US based current rider. He has mad skills on any bike.

Had my first battery error today

Battery clamp is still nice and tight and terminals look new. The sealing is found its job. It was the battery connector at the motor that was the culprit.
