    Cracked 2000km

No its coming into Autumn here in New Zealand now so need something a bit more aggressive for the tracks. Just bought a Schwalbe Eddy Current on "one week special" at EVO Cycles for NZ$95, not bad considering the Rekons on the bike are NZ$189. Sticking with the 27.5 x 2.8 sizing as I do like it.

    Cracked 2000km

I've had my Jam2 plus for 5 months now. ticked over 2003kms last night. On my second chain (soon to be third). replaced both sets of brake pads. Bought a new rear tire today which I haven't fitted yet. Ride a variety of Road/Fire breaks/Single Track and generally some pretty steep hills. 58yrs...

Why are so many EMTB riders obsessed with the weight of the bike?

I agree totally with the original comment. I see people talking about upgrading their brakes/suspension/tyres/rims e.t.c. because these ebikes are 10kg's heavier than a non ebike. to be fair I'm probably 20 to 30kg heavier than the average mountain bike rider. Its like people don't understand...

Get out of your comfort zone?

that makes about as much sense as me saying "no body should climb ladders because I am not comfortable with heights". Nobody is asking you to do it. Personally I just want to embrace the "Fun" that these people are having whilst hurting nobody

Anyone here got the Jam 2 Plus?

I've had mine since mid October and done 1700km's on it. Hasn't missed a beat. On my second chain. Back tyre getting quite worn now so will need to replace soon.On my second set of Brake Pads. Has been summer riding in New Zealand so Recons have been ideal. TEC pack gets used quite a bit...

    Chain Life

My Focus came with a HG54 Shimano 10 spd chain and I got about 1400kms out of it before stretch past .75, my LBS didn't have one in stock and fitted a CN6600 Ultegra chain. 300km later and its already at .75. HG54 on order now of course

    Purchasing first emtb.

Hi Stan. I think you are on the right track, particularly with going on how the bikes feel to YOU. Geometry is just numbers on paper and doesn't always reflect how bikes will feel to any given rider over your preferred riding territory. Even how the bikes perform at different cadences (is that a...

    Speeding

Lots of country's including where I live (New Zealand) already have a 20mph/32kph limit and the bikes we buy here (same bikes) are mostly set up restricted to the 32kph. don't see how it causes any more issues than your 15mph limit.

    2019 Flyon Closer Look

That's been an interesting chat. My two cents worth (pennies for you POM's). I don't really see the need for more power than the current crop of motors considering my shimano in boost mode can pretty much get me up anything that isn't too steep to tip me over backwards. The only time the extra...

    EMTB Forums Members Map

Only three of us showing in New Zealand. We live in a Mountain Biking paradise and some of the shops here can hardly keep up with orders for E-Bikes so I know there's lots more of us here with them. Come on guys and gals, get on the map!!

    STRAVA WAN###

I just use Strava to see how im progressing. I do like to see how my times compare to the young fit guys on organic bikes, just out of interest. I don't really care what they think, with no disrespect intended. If they comment I always remember the signs at "Jelly Stone Park", "Don't feed the...

Focus Jam2 Rockshox suspension is great!

my impression is that it uses ALL of the travel efficiently. I'm 114 kg and ride a variety of terrain and have never bottomed out.

Anyone here got the Jam 2 Plus?

I have the TEC pack and do plenty of long rides where I deplete at least one battery. I try to alternate which battery I start out on so that they both get a "full cycle" quite regular. problem solved.

My Focus Jam2 dropper seat is very sluggish.

Mine was like that when I first got my bike. I was getting really frustrated and was about to take it back to my LBS when I realised that the connection at the switch end is actually a threaded adjuster. Had to screw in a bit out a bit e.t.c. till I got it in the right place but now it works...

Good afternoon, anyone know the maximum rider weight for a Focus E-mtb

I am currently 114kg and have done 1500km on my Focus Jam2 over the last three and a half months. New Chain and Brake Pads. no other issues. so you should be fine.

Good day David here from Wisper Bikes

Hi David. I'm in New Zealand (Wellington) and really like the look of your upcoming 2019 model. I currently have a Focus Jam2 so you can see why I like the look of your bike. Our climate here is generally a bit warmer and drier than yours so not being able to remove the battery and keep it warm...

    Which Emtb?

For geometry - ride everything you can and narrow your choices down to two or three bikes that YOU feel comfortable with. then look at spec and price and see what works for you. KISS theory.

    Focus TEC Pack

I use mine regularly. I can flatten a battery on 16 to 18km of serious hills in turbo mode but I can also get 71kms out of a battery on flatter road rides in eco mode. Mostly about 40kms out of a battery in mixed terrain in trail mode. no noticeable difference in range between integrated battery...
