I think it was from the top but honestly I am not sure. It happened on landing a jump and I just felt something heavy hit my leg. I have my strap high near the upper latch and haven't had an issue since. Probably 10 rides later or so
yeah, it's expensive for sure. The recent price hike hasn't helped either. I'm generally ok paying a premium for a frame I really want/like and was always planning to change out parts, so I went with the "cheap" R build. $8200 at the time. Now a bit more. Was planning to sell the take offs to...
Hey Rusty762, thanks buddy. I am pretty stoked on it.
The 220 rotors were a good upgrade. I think it will be a noticeable improvement for you. I like Codes and run them on 2 of my analog bikes. The Guide REs with the 220 rotors are actually pretty decent. I rode them with the 200s initially...
For folks trying to decide about suspension, here are some professional reviewer perspectives that I came across before settling on the heckler to make sure it was the right do it all emtb for me:
From Pinkbike:
There are a few spec choice on the Heckler that seem a little out of place. Keep in...
Here's the bike with the 38 on it. Haven't taken any photos on the trail yet since installing it. It replaced the Lyrik select that came on the R build.
Wow, you have a good stable of bikes. Very nice. I get what you are saying about changing the intent of the heckler by adding a 38 and a coil, but I also disagree with the perspective. You can definitely mod the bike to better suit your riding style and it's why most of us are on these...
More protection than the VPD system knee pad, which is a different pad. The VPD 2.0 is beefier. I have those too. Great pads, but not as pedal friendly as you mention.
I second this. Best combo of protection to comfort I have experienced. Also like the POC VPD System knee for comfort, but Sam Hill if more protection is needed.
Damn! That's rough. Sorry to hear that. Mine fell out during a ride, so aside from a dent or two and some scuffs, i just put it back in and then strapped it up. Hope you get resolution soon.
Aqua decals look sick!
Would be pretty cool if cascade makes a link for this MY heckler. I would get it for sure. Looks like they did for the previous model. But the rear suspension is feeling really good with the changes so far. Definitely not a high priority purchase right now.
Less vibration is transmitted through carbon compared to alloy. Trail chatter feels a little more muted. Some carbon bars are stiffer than others though and you can get a very stiff carbon bar which may not be as forgiving on your arms. I like the oneup bar personally, but there are others that...
Prices are crazy. I saw that yesterday. The R build is the way to go. Then replace suspension when you can and add 220 rotors. Other less critical would be possibly the brakes themselves (I think the guide re's are decent when properly bleed but not fantastic), then carbon bar to cut down on...
Have about 8 rides on it so far. 5 in the high setting, 3 in the low. Prefer the low setting with some additional progressivity for the coil. I did bottom out the rear a few times on some high speed (around 20 mph) chunky trails the other day and was in the low setting at that point. Added a few...
Thanks for the update, guys. That's more info than I have gotten in several weeks of checking in with the online dealer I purchased from. Thankfully the strap around the battery seems to be a temporary fix so that I can still ride it and it's not just garage art. I haven't had an issue since...
Good call. Yeah, it is the same stroke as stock. My buddy has the older Norco Range VLT with the Shimano E8000 and he loves it. He is actually the main reason I decided to get an emtb.
That's awesome, man! Some old school racing right there and it's cool you are back on a heckler. I don't know the exact sag yet since it is pretty hard to get in there and measure with SC's design around the shock, but it seems to be around 30 percent when I briefly tried measuring using the...
