Hi,
this is not something i am thinking of doing now as i am enjoying the e7000 motor. However in the event of a forced replacement do both motors share the same mountings/fixings? As with most things i like to upgrade when broken or worn out and this would be a good swap if interchangeable.

Yes, they both share the same mountings. So it should, in theory, be straight forward.

Can anyone confirm this is a straight swap? Mainly thinking of the other components (display / cabling etc).

There are some reasonable deals on E8000 motors at the moment.

In theory yes, but it may depend on the bike and if it has a frame designed to accommodate both motors or if it has any quirks that may hinder firing an e8000
