Zee Rattle .... (nothing to do with the Germans).

Only pottering about at the moment due to injury and lockdown. But noticed that the finned pads on the Zee's rattle .. presumably this is the same on saints and other Shimano brakes with the same pads ?

Is there some cunning bodge to stop this that anyone knows of ??

My Shimano XT 8210 do this....the noise is horrendous and there is a vibration through the whole bike...
Only the had the bike 2 weeks (Giant Reign- E) I have found if i drag the brakes a bit to get some heat in them, the noise and the vibration is a lot less....no doubt, completely the wrong thing to do as my rotors have badly discoloured from heat damage and they are lacking bite.
Not found much about it when searching online except a chap took a hacksaw to the fins and cut them off....
I have just ordered some new rotors and aftermarket pads without fins and will see how i get on....

I have the same on the back without fins and they're fine. Just seems like a bit of an oversight. Weird clattery madness ???

You can get Shimano pads with/without fins and resin/metal, there is 4 different combinations.

I have finned pads in M8000 and M8120 and haven't had any issues with rattle. Is the spring fitted?

Hi, yes. The Spring is fitted. I have H03C's in the back, but without the Fins.

Do you know nothing ? Everyone in the flatlands of northern France runs finned pads. How do you think you hold your frogs legs over the fire without burning your fingers when you need a quick snack ? Pop out your pads, leave the spring in ,viola perfect micro kitchen tongs and no burnt fingers !

I must say ive ran saints for 10 years and never heard them rattle like that in use. I can if i wiggle the pads as per your video, ive just tried.
Maybe the caliper is different, or maybe next time I ride I will hear nothing but the rattle as i will be actively listening out for it.

Yes, I have Saints with the finned pads on my DH bike and my Kenevo and they both rattle when you hit trail chatter or rock gardens at speed. If you haven't tried, bend the metal spring further apart to hopefully hold them tighter when you're off the brakes. Might be worth trying.

I found the easiest fix was to swap to a bike with the new bosch motor, now i can't hear the brake pads for the motor
