I don’t know if this was my first ‘rechargeable’ gadget, but I do know that I spent hours of my life blasting away those little aliens. Actually, it may not have even been rechargeable, unless I used those dodgy rechargeable batteries from the early 80’s that seem to last about an hour

Sony minidisc.
Loved my minidisc. used it with big headphones on the bike when the standard then was for small headphones like the walkman ones.
2 reasons- 1. better sound. 2. kept my ears snug and warm in winter :D

I think this took regular AA batteries. I’ve got an exact emulator for this game on my iPhone.

The earlier version is free

Had a quick google, 4 x AA batteries or mains power. So not rechargeable

You could buy the original console for a bargain price of only £300 + delivery …

Blimey that takes me back.

I was made up when I got my Tomytronic Sky Attack 3D. No matter how shit the game was, the fact it was 3D gave me massive cool points in the school playground at 11 years old.

Jeez I remember those too. A mate had one. He was the sort of mate that had all the latest gadgets. He even had an Acorn BBC Micro, years before ZX Spectrums came out. A load of us would go round his house, put ‘Elite’ on, close the curtains and pretend we were all piloting spaceships all afternoon

Hahaha yeah I loved Elite, waaay ahead of its time, spent hours and hours on that. Amazing what they did with bugger all memory back then unlike nowadays where my CoD install took a whole bloody day and 170Gb.
