You better hope not to break the shock on your 2019 levo

My shock started making a horrible clonking noise. I've been without the bike now for 3 weeks, with no word of when it would return. It's not nice being without a bike with all the nice weather and losing fitness, but it's even worse when you need it for your job and are losing business.

A chased them up today and was told, it will be another 5 - 8 weeks! Wtf! So between 8 and 11 weeks to replace the shock. Apparently the issue is with SRAM and that it's an OEM part they just don't have.

I'm gobsmacked and pissed off. I would have thought there would be a supply of these lying around in case of warranty issues.

That’s ridiculous!

My experience with SRAM has always been good, quickly replacing high end components.

It seems too many companies are focused on initial sales marketing rather than backing up their products and reliability.

They really should have had it repaired at a good shock service center . In fact that is an option in the warranty I would guess. Most things can be fixed on shocks.

Classic, if it is one things that breaks on a full suspension it is the rear suspension. Seems forks are nearly indestructible compared to rear suspension with its proprietary links etc. when will fox and rock shocks start to make it all at the rear end as well.

I actually think a good LBS would have sorted that for you pretty quick. Who is holding things up?

Which dealer? The onus (and your contract) is with them not Sram and the time you have been quoted is unacceptable.

I'd expect them to take one from a stock bike for you.

I'm not having much luck with forks either. My 2018 fox factory 34s broke within a fortnight. Coming down from a coaster wheelie they stayed compressed, then I pulled them and they went from 140 to 190 travel and stayed there. See pic. * On a normal bike

Now my new 2019 fox factory 36s have gone back as well after a couple of months. The steerer is making a cracking noise. It sounds like the frame is snapping, horrible. They went back the same time as the shock but got them back within a week.

The lbs has sent a couple of pairs back making the same noise, worryingly also on levos but his were ebike specific ones.

I do too. It's spesh Stafford. They haven't been very good tbh, I've got a list of things I could post about crap service. My friend has a list as long as my arm, he got dicked around something terribly.

May sound silly, but if I did what you did I would definitely try and get some equipment sponsors - I know a lot of the local guides/coaches here in Surrey have equipment only deals with brands. Is this not something you could do?

Its a pretty good advert for Specialised that as someone who relies on their bike day to day, you chose a Levo, and most would assume you did that based off reliability, even if that isn't the case!

I've been told the hold up is with SRAM. It's gone back to them as it's warranty, not to a tuner like I was originally told. Apparently they have no levo sized shocks

I've been waiting three weeks for a change of engine for my levo 2016. bearings inside broken.

I recently waited 9 Weeks (realistically 10weeks, but the week the dealer needed for the build up is not up to specialized...) - 1 Week until the first respond, another week until they collected the bike and 7 weeks to inspect the bike (crack in Carbon at the battery mount and broken motor) and decide to send out a new frame. Only comment was they will pay part of the work time because they sent out the frame without a motor and let the dealer do the build.
After all had to pay around 500€ for the build up because of some issues with the motor and my brakes, specialized paid 80€.
I had to go to another dealer because my dealer stopped working with specialized for these reasons and wasn’t able to help me out for that reason ;/
But they upgraded me to a s-works, but even then that is a no go (time & cost) in my opinion.

That’s what I thought too. After all it was around 580€ incl the 80€ from specialized, 9h of work and a few spare pats (60€).

I have no Idea what the problem was, he had trouble with the Software, was not able to bleed my brake properly (he just crumbled the big seal in and overtoghtened the little screws, Hope Tech 3) and screwed the Motor Cover down with my rear light cable between the cover and the housing so it Broke.
At least it fits into the chainstay at the S-Works, the holes in the alloy chainstays were smaller.
He told me he made the update a few times as it worked before the first update.

Had to buy new seals and was able to repair the cable as I had some cm spare stuffed in the housing...

After all there was not much of choice. Had to pay as I was just lucky to get a working bike and don‘t think there would have been the will for a discount...

The bike is built back up. Massive thanks to Rob for lending me his shock, what a hero. Just need to weather to get better now to get pedalling again. Think I've forgotten how to ride
