Windproof jacket

For many years now I have had a windproof jacket for the warmer months just in case while out it gets cooler. It folds up into a real small bundle and like a bum bag. So I am looking for a new one now. Any recommendations please.

Picked this one up last week. I needed a lite windbreaker (lite rain) that could fold up really small. Not sure if it’s available where you are? Wife hates the colour btw. I don’t mind.

I have two Montane Featherlite smocks. They pack into a pouch the size of an apple. I carry it clipped onto my shorts or waist pack.

Whatever you buy, make sure beforehand that you see the actual water resistance and breathability ratings. I would not buy anything with a breathability below 20,000 gm/m2/24hrs, although some guides say that 10,000 is the working minimum. Ditto for waterproofing.

I have a windproof jacket that is no longer made (no good giving you a recco then), I also have a waterproof that is 20/20 as above. It is also no longer made, but it is superb. Endura make a waterproof in their MT500 range that has a breathability of over 60,000, which is outstanding!!! But expensive.

I have the endura jacket .The breathability is great for a waterproof jacket, but it's also very light and does not keep you warm. I need to wear merino layers underneath. These jackets might be what you're after: Storm Trooper with 23, 000 waterproof 33,000 breathability or this as a more windproof jacket with light shower resistance Afterburner both fold up into their own storage bag

I'm terrible for this sort of thing. I tend to just get random hiking style clothes from decathlon for emergency layers rather than spending a premium on mountain biking specific stuff.

I work out what I want and scour the net for discounted older stock. I tend to buy Endura because it seems to fit me and feels worth the price, especially when I get a great deal.

But on the Decathlon side, some bits have been fantastic for me, and the OP I keep a decathlon windproof splashproof pullover in my bumbak for those times that the weather catches you out or standing around chatting for too long. cost £18 from memory.

I bought the Endura Mt500 II jacket at the end of last year and do like Endura stuff that I've bought so far so looking to keep it Endura, but Endura lightweight is best, they seem to have a few and Im finding it difficult to know which to choose tbh.

Any clues?

I got an endura one with bag size of coke can . Clammy but ok for getting caught out in a shower £50 I think .

I’ve had a Montane featherlite jacket (not to be confused with Durex ) for years which is very windproof. Stick it in the washing machine with Nikwax to keep the proofing as good as it can be.

I use a Gore waterproof top with layering underneath, the number/type of layering dependant on the temperature.

Lots of fantastic jackets out there but if they are getting covered in mud three times a week the fancy technical ones dont stand up to the washing . I hose mine down if really bad and proper wash very rarely.

Yes hose mud off hang on tow till dry then back in shed . I have four different jackets all old now.
