Will Shimano update their battery sizes?

Hi,

Do we think that Shimano will do a new battery with the new battery cell tech?

They have just updated the motor to give riders some of the settings that Bosch riders have with overrun, etc. but they haven't seems to updated their batteries with nothing over 630w (I know that they allow 3rd party that are bigger) - the density of the new cells would allow them to push 700+ and would love to see them introduce bigger sizes that fit the existing mounts.

I'm currently looking at the Privateer e161 and the only thing putting me off is the battery now.

It would be another way to keep the existing EP801 riders happy to keep pace with the others - What do we think?

I’d be happy with an extender.
I turn my assist down and get pretty good range out of my EP801 with a 630 battery

Either they don't care about making money from the batteries and only want to profit from the motors, leaving darfon and others to provide better batteries.

Or they do care in which case they will have their hand forced by the market next year as rumours of Bosch 800Wh, Specialized 880Wh and FIT 1060Wh batteries should be on the market.
