Answered Will an 12-speed SRAM XD freehub work on my 11 speed NX?

Hi guys,

I'm looking for a new set of wheels for my 2019 turbo levo fsr. It has an 11 speed Sram NX drivetrain. I found a rear wheel from chainreactioncycles: SRAM MTH 746 on Easton AR40 Rear Wheel | Chain Reaction Cycles. It has a 12 speed xd freebub so will it work on my setup?
Also any opinions on that wheel?

No, because you need a Shimano compatible freehub

Looking at the many options available it seems you can space an 11 speed cluster on a 10 speed freehub but for a 12 speed cluster you will need a 12 speed freehub.

The highest gear of NX is 11 tooth which goes on a regular splined hub.
The XD driver hub is for GX & above 11 or 12 speed where the highest gear is 10 tooth.
12spd Shimano is a different standard again.

Right, now I remember reading that the NX differed from the rest of the Eagle versions by the Shimano compatible freehub, so the same should apply to the 11 speed ones. Somehow it slipped my mind.

Thanks guys for explaining nicely to a noob rider. Saved me from a lot of trouble.

I have same situation (I ordered same wheels to my Vitus eSommet), except that I have 11 speed shimano casette. I ordered also this driver (end cap included with driver), plan to swap it with XD driver. Hoping it works with hub and shimano 11s cassette. SRAM HG Driver Body for SRAM MTH-746 Hubs - 11.2018.027.001

I'll get the parts next week, I'll re-post the end result.
