Whyte Fork Offset

Has anyone on the 27.5 wheeled bikes tried using a shorter offset fork and if so what are your thoughts please.

The E150 29 is using the short offset of 44mm for 29er forks but all the 27.5 models are using the 44mm 27.5 offset as opposed to the 37mm.

I though 44mm was pretty standard for 27.5 and 51 for 29er with only a few bike brands varying from that. That in turn means availability ( when any bike components are actually available again!) tends to be those offsets mostly. I would be inclined to trust that the brand's choice was based on achieving the best compromise between stability and steering response for their bikes based on all the design features of those bikes ( head tube angle etc.) Unless you are intending to buy a brand new fork anyway, it is also an expensive experiment!

What are you trying to achieve? For example slow steering can equally be speeded up by reducing bar width.

on Whytes non ebikes they have been using the short offsets for a few years now on both wheels sizes and on the 29er bike the short offset so the 27.5” ebikes with the longer offset seem like the odd one out, just wondered why.
I’m upgrading the forks so seemed like a good opportunity to try the shorter offset.
