Why is the new Decoy a few lbs heavier?

I noticed the new one is a few pounds heavier, yet same battery size? What are they doing?

The 2020 was listed before as Alu rear end but isn't now so I wonder if that is why.

they are weighing them differently. from the decoy page:
* Weight measured without pedals 2014 - 2019 models in frame size S / Regular | 2020 models in frame size L / Long. Due to manufacturing tolerances of the individual components the bike weight may differ +/- 5%

yep, I could buy a Decoy race, and hire some mtn goats for that extra range.

Spec does some great design work, but you pay for it. In the end, it's about riding and not all the fancy integration toys. I'd rather ride my decoy and buy wine and beer for my buds

Ditto. I'd rather have a top spec Decoy and plenty of money for gear and beer. Maybe even 2 Decoys. 1 for me. 1 for a buddy who wants to ride but doesn't have a bike. lol

Spec marginal design improvement, if it actually exists (especially vs. YT), is no way worth the spec de-rate. IMO.
