Why does EMTB tech seem to come to the EU first?

It seems like all the new hotness like the Pinion, DJI or other exciting new motor/drivetrain tech from Eurobike is going to arrive/has arrived in the EU way before the US. Is there a reason it's hard to launch new tech in the US, or is the US just considered an unimportant market to all these companies?

The differences in regulations and standards approval......plus the US is a huge market making distribution and support an issue unless the Company already has a presence in the US or can partner with someone who has.

Maybe because ebike hating is still raging in the US marcket ... The EU is more mature and receptive on that matter IMHO.
You're right about that, but e-bikes are catching on more and more. Even the trails around me that technically don't allow them have a ton of people on e-bikes.

Its not to do with ebike hating.
Europe has the richness of diversity (more than 40 countries - every 500km a different language/race), US has the productivity of uniformity (a Wallgreens at every intersection). The diversity of Europe provides local opportunity for small-scale product development. The US market requires large-scale roll out which can be a barrier for a niche product..
But the momentum is from the East and its easier (currently) to introduce good Chinese products into Europe than US.

It comes down to this.

In the US. Cycling is mostly about sport. In Europe. Cycling has a much larger connection to transportation.

Ebikes make much more sense when you aren't thinking that, "It's just a device that gives you an unfair sporting advantage".

Times are changing. But some people really struggle to change their views. And when those people have a strong voice. They can stall change, even when it's to the detriment of progress to devices that will help humanity.
