It’s great on both but thats also pretty dependent on how you build it out. I built mine up from the RS180 frameset and it’s honestly a stupid-expensive build that is focused on a best of everything approach. The off-the-shelf builds are good and will not treat you wrong. I honestly can’t ride the bike to its full potential because its just that good. Very poised on the climb and a dream on the downhill. I don’t even ride my other bikes now.

I have the RS 180. Mine is the largest size (RH-4) which came as a 29'er that was great out of the box. My local riding is more tight, techy trails that I like to ride as fast as possible. I changed mine to a mullet and installed a slightly smaller (625w watt) battery. Result was a little reduced weight and more agility. It's even better now (for my trails, terrain and riding style). I'd say that it's good going up tight twisty stuff but really shines when moving fast over rough stuff.

Hey Arethustra, great looking bike. Great build. I have a RS180 (complete - great bike) I am interested in the skid plate you have - how is the protection? Any rattle? Would you recommend? Can you share where you bought it? Thank you

Protection is awesome; the plate is formed to the frame and lined with an impact foam…it’s tight with no rattle and the composite is almost 1/4 in thick - have put a few scratches and scrapes on it with no issue and have slammed it into a log on occasion when I had a rider error trying to clear a log and it just shrugged it off. Don’t know if anyone else is making something now but it’s definitely the only one I found and it has to be ordered off menu as it was originally a one-off for a long time customer of the guy who owns Amygos.

I bought two thinking I’d surely break it but it’s laughed at all my attempts thus far.

I have a Telum with the adjustable spring so not sure if it will translate for you but I’m 195 lbs running a 420 lb spring - it was way lighter than I expected but the ride is plushy mcplushersom.

Hey Gnarly Bailout - Love the photo's and love the bike. I have the RS180 RH4 29/29. In terms of swapping the battery to the 625W where did you get the spacer? Have you had any problems or errors switching to the 625W? Is the weight noticeable and is the performance much of an improvement for agility with the standard 29/29 set-up in your opinion? I ask as considering but its a big investment the 625W battery in Aust is $1,400 then plus a spacer. Thanks in advance

I’m keen to know too, also in Aus.

Hey Arethustra,

Planning on a Telum shock too since they are local to me. Your 420lbs spring is surprising to me too as the recommendation from Crestline states ~450lbs for 180lbs. These numbers puts it in different Sprindex rates, so I wanted to double check with you on what type of riding you do?
Based on your information, I think I would lean towards the same spring (390-430) as I cannot jump very well and prefer a magic carpet planted type of riding.

It's typical of the telum to use less springrate than Crestline recommends.
When you get one the calculator inputs your riding style weight etc and is pretty bang on with recommended springrate 🙂

I too am in Vancouver, and just put a Telum on a Transition PT GX. Hoping to get out next week to give it a try. It came highly recommended from a friend who works in the industry. I went with the Vorsprung recommended spring rate.

Weight: 175lbs. Spring rate: 390. North Shore rider :)

Congrats!
I’ve ridden many and this is the one to have.you’ll love it
Oh yeah,

It was the bike i wanted before the Pole Voima. Now i'm getting an S180. RH-2 MX
Going to do the following to it
Sell the T-Type asx, Maven brakes, DT swiss wheels and vivid air shock.
Replace with XT link glide. Xt brakes, Envy foundation wheels and custom local manufactured coil shock. Handle bar with be changed out to a carbon one up and +5mm headset.

Why do all this buying and selling? Frame only was sold out, so complete build and swap out parts was the only option.

I've spec'd 600wh and will also get a 400wh battery.

I'm looking to get the bike down to 21.5ish kg with the 400wh to get close to mid power weight.
Most of my riding on the Pole was sub 50% battery usage (750wh battery). So I figure i can take that weight savings and run a 400wh for most of my riding. Then on big park days, I'll have the 600wh and be able do a battery swap mid right and get a 1000wh day.

Sounds like good plan with frames being sold out.the idea of having the lighter batteries for bike park is super tempting.i might do the 400 for that.
Have you tried the maven brakes?
Coming from TRP and Magura I was super skeptical especially after some weird YouTube reviews but I went in with an open mind and after proper bleed and piston massage, they’re actually more consistent than the other two..and way more powerful.
When going back to the other two it’s very noticeable.

I don't even want to try them.... I need to drop weight because i'm adding weight by ditching the t type asx, for xt link glide. There is no way i'm running an $800nzd derailleur in my stick and vine covered location. We damage so many derailleurs around here.

Plus I need to recover some cash. The complete crestline converted to nzd is above my paygrade. I need to sell some of the fruity stuff and use some of my existing kit to get the price down to a level that i can afford.

Forgive my ignorance but the 400wh bosch compact tube is different fitting then the standard powertube? I wouldn't think its compatible? I thought it was developed solely for the SX motor.

I could be msitaken of course :)

Crestline will offer battery mounts so you can install the 400 battery.
