Who has broken there ebike ??

Due to a ebikes added weight is this the reason ? I have purchased a top quality ebike and im constantly breaking it. Admittedly I ride hard enduro to downhill. But I have good mechanical empathy and go out of my way to look after my bike and maintain it.

Breaking your bike to me means snapping, cracking, bending or irrepairably damaging part of the actual frame.
With Ebikes I'd lump a broken motor into that definition.
but broken, damaged or worn out component parts I would not class as a broken bike no matter what part it might be..

TBH I've been pretty surprised at how few broken Emtb frames you hear of. Have you broken your Kenevo frame? If so you probably made the best choice you could have as Spesh have always had a great reputation for sorting out customers and replacing broken frames under warranty.

No frame breaks . In fact I haven't heard of anyone breaking a kenevo frame. The frame is perfect. Ok I have broken parts including the swing arm pivot bolt the rear hub axle spokes and im on my second motor . I understand parts wear out like chains cables rear hangers ect but I didn't expect to be breaking pivot bolts and hob axles !! That all being said Specialized warranty is excellent .

TBH in my younger years there wasn't a single component part of a bike I didn't at least once break. The list would be endless and I mean every single separate component part a bike has right down to snapped BB axles, split headset cups, broken axles, cracked hub shells, destroyed rims, pivot bolts, shocks etc. I even snapped shock springs and many many frames and forks. Bikes and components are way better these days but I'm also a lot less harsh on kit. and don't spend every weekend wrecklessly attacking DH tracks or hitting huge jumps.

Excluding motors and acceptible wear on service components. the only parts I've broken in 2 years+ of Emtb riding have been a pretty poor quality Box components Ebike specific rear mech I had been testing for review and a shimano E8000 shifter which bent and cracked after multiple crashes.
That's is around 8000 miles. Half of which would be commuting, tame trails, the other half DH/Enduro riding.
Gotta say. it's pretty reliable.

I guess with you riding DH tracks a lot you have to expect a fair amount of component damage just as you would riding DH regularly on a DH bike. I service a lot of fast local riders DH bikes and honestly, they're mostly fucked each season.

In what way did your main pivot fail?

I must say im feeling a little better now . I was questioning my self and the way I was treating my bike. The kenevo is a bruiser designed for enduro downhill. Prior to this bike I had a canyon spectral and I gave that bike everything and I broke next to nothing on it. Very reliable in comparison thats why I question the added weight.

Basically the pivot bolt snapped. When I cleaned the bike and did a nut and bolt check the pivot bolt head had no tension and on closer inspection. Yup snapped .

s'pose that bolt could have been down to a number of factors and you may not ever know if it had been overtightened from new or had come loose to cause wear etc. before it failed on you. Good that you spotted it and replaced it straight away really.
Regular bolt checks are definitely required on bikes predominantly ridden for downhill/enduro.
As for any of your OEM parts failing there'll be plenty chat in the Spesh forums for you to search through to find out if others have seen similar failures.
Do you true your own wheels? If not you should think about learning. It's not difficult to learn if you have the time and patience. Spokes generally only really fail through fatigue or damage. and being able to look after your own wheels, retension and true is an invaluable skill to have.

+1 always breaking bikes :)

I guess that's what happens when you're 120kg ex semi-pro motocross racer and ride predominantly expert tracks! As I learn to ride smoother and my mechanic skills improve, I am finding that I'm getting more life out of my bikes. I also make sure I do my research on replacement parts.

When there's consumer pressure to make bikes as light as functionally possible, things are going to break! But like @Gary said, bikes are getting stronger! Let's be thankful for that!

I broke my swing arm pivot bolt (19 Kenevo) about 3 rides in after hitting an alpine park. After getting it replaced and having done many more alpine sessions and various other gravity/dh riding it hasn’t happened again. Either the original one was made cheaply and they’ve since rectified that or I am just lucky, who knows? I also kept blowing hubs up which specialised upgraded me to dt swiss and haven’t broken one since. I also check bolts every 2nd or 3rd ride to make sure they’re torqued right. I think general maintenance of ebikes is more crucial to there reliability. They don’t ride like normal bikes so how can we expect the same reliability from parts not designed for them.

Yes I partly agree with you but depends how you hit certain stuff. I wasn’t surprised when my cousin cased a timbered gap jump and snapped my shock. To be fair I was impressed the bike didn’t break in half. On the other hand my brother wasn’t impressed when he cased a small 1ft high gap jump and cracked something in the Boxxer fork. Turns out the bearing races are dodgy and Specialzied upgraded to a cane creek version.

They have a great after sales service second to none.

Yeah, Vitus Esommet....I have broken every part of the bike except the frame. Rims, spokes, derailleurs, levers, bars, seat, cranks and pedals etc....the list is endless. Like you I ride enduro Downhill and the extra weight is punishing on parts but to be expected.
