Curious what others are doing in the way of mixing and matching components and makeshift hacks from those bold enough to experiment.
I'll start with some of mine.
Brakes are "Shigura" using XT levers, Jagwire Pro hose and Magura MT5 4 piston calipers. 220 front 203 rear rotors. Best brake combination I have used but I do prefer brakes with lots of bite.
Fork is a "Foxocchi" 36 coil. The CSU tube walls are thicker on the Z1 Coil than on the Z1 and 36 air sprung versions so the thought process being equal or possibly more rigidity than a larger 38. Replaced the Grip with a Grip2 and couldn't be happier with the result. Having previously run a 38 with a smashpot I was initially disappointed with the Z1Coil as it felt either over or under sprung with no real in between on the green and blue springs. The grip2 alleviated this. I feel the strength to weight is advantagous over a 38 with a coil kit. Time will tell with this one as I am a huge fan of the smashpot but so far so good with the Foxocchi.
Lastly I'm running an Archer DX1 Shifter with a Shimano 11sp rear mech and a variety of cassettes. Haven't figured out a cool word for it yet "Archmano" maybe? Anyway since the indexing is controlled by the Archer and not by the shifter it allows me to experiment with ease. For example I have been running a Sram 7sp DH cassette rather frequently and just ordered a Box Components 9spd wide ratio which Ive been excited to try. Regarding the 9spd my hesitation has been not great reviews about the mech and shifter but the idea of the cassette and DLC chain is intriguing.
So what crazy hacks and mods are other running?
