Which could be now, soon or last week for some members..... But reading @The Hodge 's mention he had a Mk2 Escort when he was a lad made me go searching for a dusty box of "analogue" photo's ! :)

Zimm's teenage years .. It seems I was as crash worthy then as I found a card from work from my 21st suggesting it would be nice if I managed to stay alive for another year ...

I loved this bike and did thousands of miles on it .. it probably cost less than tyres or brake pads now. White saddles, were they really a thing ?

I was a teenager .. I thought a capri was cool, incredibly it was already almost 10 years old when I got it ... always wanted a 3.1 x-pack ..

My first motorcycle .. after a 1 week "crash" course on a Honda 125 it seemed like the next logical step. Honestly could not believe something could be that fast the first time I rode it. GSXR750L ... Just had to have it after someone on a GSXR750M in the black and crazy went past me on one wheel going up a hill in Austria when cycling.

Actually I had a bit of a rusty start and kind of didnt have the teenage years most did. So probably 22 or 23 on is my 16-18.
I don't think I've any pics loaded on this computer.

But from that time on it was with a mate who had a few quid and we spent our time wild camping, till he bought a speedboat much like yourself -Fletcher Arrowstreak - 120 honda oil injected shit off a hot tin shovel outboard, then the 10m racing yacht with loads of races won on the West coast of Scotland. After that it was all work/trade related, then college for a change of direction.
No cars, never learned to drive, but bikes bikes and more bikes. From my early Muddy fox, a few sus, a few Ti's, mostly hardtails and we finally arrive at Emtb's

When I turned 16 and got my license I came home and drove off in a 63' Austin Healey Sprite, non bug eye with side curtains I had paid $400 for. My 10spd was a Raleigh that cost less than $100. My next car was a 67' MGB and bike was a Columbus tubed Campy equipé Favorit with tubulars. I had Rossignol Strato, Dynamic VR17 skiis and Lange boots with flo liners. Not bad for a kid from VT!

White saddles, were they really a thing ?
Still are.
My 4X bike and roadbike both have white selle italia SLR saddles

When i was about 10 my eldest sister (fashion designer) had a super hot (fashion buyer) friend who used to drive up from Newcastle to see her and take me out in her MK3? black Capri.

Doc Martins were awesome for sliding on ice, weren't they? it's probably how Eddie the Eagle started.
hold on. your pic looks astonishingly like a young Eddie.

Other than my passport/driving license and a couple of pics of my kids I don't own any other photographs from any time in my life. My mum actually threw all her photos of me out when I was about 20. (I'd left home by 15)

I learnt to drive in my sister's car...........3 gears, runnerboards, and doors that opened the wrong way. My first car was an Austin Somerset, taxed and MOT'd for £25. Before that I had a Francis Barnett 175 motor bike, then a Lambretta Li125 ( complete with Union Jack Parka). Second car was a Sumbeam Rapier, then a Mini, then a bit beyond teenage years......... an Austin Healey Sprite, MG Midget, MK1 Cortina GT, Morris 1000 ( Q car!!) Mk2 Cortina GT ( Lotus look a like), MG A ( rebuild project) 1275 Mini Gt, Mk3 Cortina, Mk4 Cortina, 8 port crossflow 1340 Race Mini................the list goes on Capri 2000 Ghia, Sierra XR4 etc etc.
A few motorbikes in the mix..........all Honda 250s.

ahhh, Capri, proper car! escort mk II - proper car...
and having grown up in Dagenham a 10 minute walk from the factory, I used to walk to school past any number of them............ rusting into the pavement.
wish I had know what they would be worth now, going rate for a Mk1 escort at one point (running) was between £50 & £100 - we sold our Mk1 in velvet purple for £80 sometime in the early 80's
nice bike too, I see your Gixxer 750 and raise you a... er... gixxer 750 slabside ;)

Now then, as we’re talking classic cars and teenage years, and I’ve previously mentioned my MkII Escort Rave Mobile on another thread, suppose it’d be rude not to share this photo (can’t believe I’m doing this!!)

Note the tiger skin (fake obviously) seats, posh leather steering wheel and my piece da resistance was the pig air freshener hanging from the rear view mirror, complete with proper bobby 👮‍♀️ helmet. For some reason I was always being pulled over by the police when driving my rave car. Of course I had the boot full of bass speakers playing classics such as LFO’s LFO

I can only imagine how often you would have been pulled in that thing, the cops having spotted you from two miles away.

To be fair, they were usually ok, once they’d searched the car and not found anything illegal 😅

My favourite was at a free party in the middle of nowhere where I’d been throwing shapes all night staring right into a fantastic whizzy blue laser. When the sun came up, it became obvious it was actually a police car, full of coppers laughing at me

First motorbike - an xl175 bored out to a whopping 210 cc, long range tank, up pipe - bling wasn't as exotic back then.......At 13 yo we decided a camping trip on French island might be fun. We phoned and asked at the station if we could " take bikes" on the station ( then selected an unattended station) . After that, the guy at the ferry couldn't turn us back!

First car - some bztrd stole my motorbike a couple of weeks before 1 st year exams. The previous owner got sick of people calling it a sh1t heap so painted her impression of bird sh1t on the roof. Instead of studying for exams I turned 2 broken motors into 1 rattle box, I can't believe that pile of rust lasted another 3 years

Not my first motorbike, or my last, but certainly my favourite.

I've still got that leather jacket!
sweet ride, worth a bomb now and they havent dated at all, the RC30 etc still look amazing and the single sided swingarm, pure sex ! I almost bought one not long ago from an import specialist, they had GSXR400, ZXR400 RVF400 and the VFR of course, as well as some crazy expensive NSR250's, the biggest problem was that I wanted them all..
I only ever did the burn out just before new tyre day :D

Import? Fucking import? That's the full beans UK spec right there chummy! :ROFLMAO:
ye I know that but the NSR and most of the others were Jap market bikes innit, most of the 400's were restricted at the carb intakes I believe.. a lot of pissing about..
I am not sure what my favourite bike was, I had a lovely RD350 YPVS that I stuffed into the side of a volvo and loads of very unremarkable bikes like a CB350S (yawn) but I think my fave might be my TZR125 that I bought when it was 8 months old in 1989, I derestricted it (of course) and could get an (indicated) 100mph out of it, usually on the A406 going to work :D

I had a YPVS after the NC30. It was so flexy that after my first "enthusiastic" ride I got the spanners out and checked the wheel and swingarm spindles because they just had to be loose! They weren't.

The vast majority of NC30s were J-Spec imports too and had different ECU and wiring loom, which I discovered when trying to hunt down a misfire.

No multi coloured passion wagon for me. This was all I could afford as the mortgage interest rate was 15%. Plenty of room in the back though
EE258A4F-3A9D-42C1-BC02-53E4023A8533.jpeg

I did manage to hold onto this though. 400cc, single cylinder, 2 stroke. Ridiculous. Maybe my haircut should go in the Mullet section! Wish I still had that much though.
still got the bike but not running. Retirement project.
